Darwin Nunez is forced to leave Liverpool after the 2024/25 season. |
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano added that the decision was made with the consensus of both Nunez and the Liverpool board. Nunez is expected to leave Anfield for a transfer fee of more than 70 million euros.
The 25-year-old star has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, especially Al Hilal, who have contacted Liverpool to discuss the terms of the deal. Al Nassr had previously offered to buy Nunez for €70 million in January 2025, but Liverpool rejected the offer. The Anfield club are now using this fee as a basis for valuing the Uruguayan star.
Liverpool spent a record €100 million to sign Nunez from Benfica in June 2022. Recovering most of the money spent on the player is Liverpool's priority, as the team plans to sign more strikers.
Despite interest from Al Hilal, Nunez is said to still want to make a move to Italy or Spain, with Napoli and Atletico Madrid being the teams that are really interested in Nunez.
In contrast, Liverpool are considering alternatives to Nunez, including Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko and Joao Pedr. Last season, Nunez scored only 7 goals in 47 matches in all competitions.
