Many people passing through the inter-village road in Lam Thuy village for the first time can't help but feel a sense of novelty and be drawn to it. The road is named, the houses are right on the road, and the alleys are all numbered, making it very easy to find specific addresses.
"House number 8, Alley 4, inter-village road, Team 7, Lam Thuy village," Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tim couldn't hide her excitement when asked for her address.
"Naming the streets is very convenient for people coming from far away to find and contact each other. Because in the same village, there are many people with the same surname and given name. Therefore, knowing which street and house number the person you are looking for is much more convenient," Ms. Tim shared.
Mr. Vo Van Tam, an official from Hai Hung commune, enthusiastically guided us on a tour of the two newly named village roads, explaining that this project is part of the advanced rural development program that the commune was recently approved by the Provincial People's Committee in May 2024.
Along the Lam Thuy inter-village road, the commune has installed 55 signboards indicating street and alley names, 300 house number signs for 5 teams, repainted 6 welcome gates, and built 2 new welcome gates for the teams. For Tra Loc village, 401 house number signs have been installed in 10 out of 12 hamlets, along with 8 security cameras, 30 new flowerbeds have been built, and the village's welcome gate has been repainted.
Two village roads and many alleyways are neatly labeled with nameplates, and each house has a clear address, facilitating residents' access to information, mail, communication, and commercial transactions and services. At the same time, local authorities can easily identify the residential addresses of households, enabling effective administrative and population management.

Hai Hung commune was recognized as meeting the standards of a New Rural Area in 2020. To implement the construction of an advanced New Rural Area, the commune has proactively and closely coordinated in mobilizing the people to organize and implement the criteria.
"We have decided not to passively wait for or rely on funding from higher-level budgets, but to consider which criteria are favorable and implement them first."
"By leveraging revenue from land auctions, mobilizing resources from the people, and enlisting the support of those who have left their hometowns, we can invest in infrastructure development, production growth, income improvement, poverty reduction, environmental improvement, and fundamentally transform the face of our homeland," shared Nguyen Duc Thuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Hung Commune.
During the implementation process, the Party Committee and the commune government determined that it was necessary to strengthen propaganda work and raise awareness among the people and the entire political system about the meaning, importance, and tasks of building a new rural commune.
Following the motto "The State and the People work together," the commune has undertaken the construction and maintenance of transportation infrastructure, irrigation canals, cultural facilities, and schools. It has launched a movement to develop the economy , implemented model gardens, and raised awareness about changing crops and livestock to increase economic value.
Typical examples include the successful development of the HN6 commercial rice production model of Lam Thuy Cooperative in collaboration with Thua Thien Hue Seed and Livestock Joint Stock Company, which has been granted a regional code for safe food rice products; the model of growing and processing melaleuca essential oil by Gia Huy facility in Thuan Chanh An village; and the model gardens according to provincial standards of Mr. Nguyen Van Thi in Lam Thuy village and Mr. Cap Van Hien in Tra Loc village.
Some local agricultural products already have traceability labels, such as Le Uyen seaweed peanut salt, Hai Hung lotus, and Lam Thuy rice seeds.
With a focus on investing in repairing transportation infrastructure and cultural institutions to build advanced new rural areas, Hai Hung commune has recently expanded and upgraded 27 village and hamlet roads, built more than 6km of rural roads, and upgraded 7 model roads in villages and hamlets. Residents have donated 15,162m² of land for the commune to build 3 sports fields for the teams.
Thanks to effective propaganda and mobilization efforts, the people have enthusiastically responded and participated by contributing funds, labor, and land. Many households have built or renovated houses, fences, gates, improved neglected gardens, and renovated livestock barns, creating a more attractive new rural landscape.
Along with focusing on economic development, the commune has also prioritized the "All people unite to build a cultured life" movement, linked with the construction of new rural areas, which has been actively supported by the people. To date, Hai Hung has been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as an advanced new rural commune; democratic regulations have been promoted, and the political system is becoming increasingly strong.
Recognizing that building new rural areas has a starting point but no end point, Hai Hung continues to strive to build model new rural communes. Currently, the commune is strengthening its propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people to build new rural areas, in conjunction with the "Nationwide effort to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" campaign. It continues to review and improve criteria to maintain and promote solutions aimed at sustainable development.
Focus on mobilizing all resources to build and renovate rural areas, construct model residential areas, and develop smart villages linked to digital transformation. Direct the development of production to improve people's lives, complete the production of key crops and livestock in the locality, and concentrate efforts on building a truly livable new rural area.
