Nottingham Forest's owner continues to be the focus of European media attention following a high-profile clash in the VIP stands during the EuroLeague basketball final between Olympiacos and Real Madrid.

According to British media, Evangelos Marinakis had a heated argument with Grigoris Dimitriadis, nephew of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The two exchanged heated words from opposite sides of the security barrier, forcing security personnel to intervene to prevent the situation from escalating.

Videos circulating on social media show a very tense atmosphere before kick-off. One person standing next to Marinakis even threw an Olympiacos towel at Dimitriadis, further intensifying the confrontation.

Following the incident, the 58-year-old billionaire appeared with a torn shirt and a noticeable bruise under his eye. However, Marinakis was still able to leave the arena in a relieved mood as Olympiacos, the club he owns, defeated Real Madrid 92-85 to win the EuroLeague.

The incident occurred just hours after Nottingham Forest finished the season in 16th place in the Premier League with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth on the evening of May 24th.

Returning to the realm of football, Forest had previously harbored hopes of qualifying for the Champions League, but their Europa League semi-final defeat to Aston Villa shattered those ambitions. Marinakis also had to temporarily step down from his direct managerial role at Nottingham Forest towards the end of the season to avoid conflicts with Olympiacos regarding multi-club ownership regulations.

The Greek businessman took over Olympiacos in 2010 before acquiring Nottingham Forest in 2017. He played a major role in bringing the City Ground team back to the Premier League, but is also known for his aggressive management style. This season alone, Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, and Sean Dyche all lost their jobs under Marinakis, before Vitor Pereira arrived and helped Forest avoid relegation.
