On August 19th, according to information from Project Management Board 85, the section of the Dai Ngai bridge and its structures (Km 0+000 - Km 7+150 and Km 10+180 - Km 15+140) have basically completed the excavation of organic matter and embankment of the service road (10.43km), with progress exceeding 35% of the contract value.
The Dai Ngai Bridge project is 8% ahead of schedule, with the contractor working diligently to overcome the challenges of both sun and rain.
The Dai Ngai 2 bridge project is ahead of schedule.
According to Mr. Dinh Le Thong, the project manager of Dai Ngai Bridge, the construction progress of Dai Ngai 2 Bridge has reached 50% to date (8% ahead of schedule).
"We expect to start installing the girders in November 2024, striving to basically complete the bridge span structure by May 2025, and complete the entire Dai Ngai 2 bridge in 2025," Mr. Thong informed.
Currently, the total volume of sand delivered to the construction site has reached 32%; the embankment for the main road has reached 32%, and the construction of the service road has reached 3.95/9.77km (41%).
"Currently, it's the rainy season, making it difficult for construction progress on site. However, with a spirit of 'overcoming the sun and rain,' the construction units have implemented many measures to avoid delays."
"Specifically, we're installing cantilevered concrete structures to ensure continuous construction even in rainy weather, and we're ready to work overtime, day and night, to carry out road construction," Mr. Thong shared.
According to Mr. Thong, the Dai Ngai 1 bridge project (connecting Cu Lao Dung district of Soc Trang province with Tra Vinh province) is also expected to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Recently, due to difficult weather conditions and a shortage of sand for embankment construction, the progress of this section of the route has been somewhat delayed.
To date, the difficulties have been largely resolved, and the Project Management Board 85 has directed contractors to accelerate the construction progress on the route.
The completion of the Dai Ngai Bridge has freed residents of Cu Lao Dung from the need to rely on ferries, connecting the entire National Highway 60 and shortening travel time from Soc Trang to Ho Chi Minh City by approximately 80km.
Meeting the people's expectations
Witnessing the gradual construction of Dai Ngai 2 Bridge, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhieu (a resident of An Thanh Tay commune, Cu Lao Dung district) expressed his excitement. The people of Cu Lao Dung district are very happy to have Dai Ngai Bridge, because soon they will no longer have to rely on ferries; a long-held dream has finally come true.
"I believe that after the Dai Ngai bridge is completed, it will create a strong impetus for An Thanh Tay commune in particular, Cu Lao Dung district in general, and Soc Trang province in particular, in terms of economic and tourism development, promising a bright future for the local people," Mr. Nhieu said.
According to Mr. Huynh Thanh An, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cu Lao Dung district (Soc Trang province), the Dai Ngai bridge project, which runs through Cu Lao Dung district, has a length of more than 5km.
"Once completed, the Dai Ngai bridge will connect Cu Lao Dung with provinces in the Mekong Delta region, facilitating trade and economic development."
"In addition, we need to unlock the potential for trade and services, tourism, and economic development in agriculture , aquaculture, and trade and services in the district," Mr. An said enthusiastically.
The Dai Ngai Bridge construction project (spanning the Hau River) has a total length of 15.14km, with its starting point intersecting National Highway 54 (in Hung Hoa commune, Tieu Can district, Tra Vinh province) and its end point intersecting the Southern Hau River National Highway (Long Duc commune, Long Phu district, Soc Trang province).
The route is designed as a Class III road in a flat area, with a design speed of 80 km/h and four lanes, with a total investment of nearly 8,000 billion VND. The project commenced on October 15, 2023, and is expected to be completed in 2026.
The Dai Ngai Bridge construction project includes two main bridge structures (Dai Ngai Bridge 1 and Dai Ngai Bridge 2) which are fully invested in with four lanes. The route is being developed in phases, with phase 1 consisting of two lanes with a cross-sectional width of 12m, a design speed of 80km/h, and a high-grade A1 road surface.
The completion of Dai Ngai Bridge helps connect the entire National Highway 60, enhancing transportation capacity for the Mekong Delta region and creating a connecting belt between the western coastal provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.
At the same time, it helps reduce traffic pressure on National Highway 1, shortening the distance from Ca Mau , Soc Trang, and Bac Lieu to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa by about 80km compared to using the existing National Highway 1 route.
