Human bones found near Taylor Swift's mansion

After police were called to the upscale Watch Hill neighborhood in Westerly, southwestern Rhode Island – home to Taylor Swift’s mansion – early on May 14 after discovering the bones of a human leg, fear grew in the community living in this peaceful coastal area.

Westerly police were called to Everett Street around 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports of human leg bones.

The bone fragments were collected and sent to the Rhode Island Medical Examiner's Office for further analysis, NBC reported .

Taylor Day, who lives in the area, told NBC she was driving past when she saw the police.

"I saw three police cars and a medical examiner coming in behind me. That made me a little nervous. There was something very unusual about the Westerly area," Taylor said.

Even more worrying is the location of the leg bone, which according to Taylor Day is less than a few hundred meters from Taylor Swift's sprawling mansion.

Taylor Day added: "It's probably a few football fields away from Taylor Swift's house and Ocean House. I never expected anything like that, especially in Watch Hill."

Taylor Swift (35 years old) wrote the song Last Great American Dynasty about her 1,000 square meter mansion, nicknamed "Holiday House". In the song, Swift also praised the neighbors near her $17 million house.

Police said foul play was not suspected and they were working to confirm the identity of the skeleton. But concerns in the region were immediately raised by reports of “dozens of bodies being discovered in several north-eastern states in recent months, raising fears of a serial killer on the loose”.

"I'm more aware of my surroundings. I won't be going to places that are a little dark or deserted now," Taylor Day added.

Taylor Swift is renovating her $1.7 million home to add several dozen square feet, including a larger bedroom. The beachfront mansion isn’t the singer’s only home.
