Many cultural and artistic activities have been organized, contributing to improving the quality and effectiveness of the "All people unite to build a cultured life" movement in Dong Thanh commune.
In Thanh Dong village, the movement to build a cultured way of life has been implemented comprehensively, linked to socio -economic development and ensuring security and order. Neighborhood groups and self-governing groups operate effectively, contributing to maintaining environmental hygiene and ensuring security and order. Residents actively participate in cultural, artistic, and sports activities, creating a spirit of unity and community cohesion. This has led to the emergence of many families dedicated to sports and culture, such as the family of Mr. Pham Tuan Huynh, where three generations are enthusiastic participants in local cultural and sports activities. Notably, his family invested in building a pickleball court at the village's cultural center for residents to enjoy and practice.
Humanitarian and charitable activities have also spread widely. Scholarship funds, "Gratitude and Repayment" programs, and support for those in need and affected by floods and storms have all received positive responses, contributing to strengthening national unity. The "National Unity for Building a Culturally Rich Life" movement continues to deepen, focusing on social welfare and improving the material and spiritual lives of the people. As a result, the percentage of culturally exemplary families has reached over 90%.
According to Mr. Pham Van Thoa, Secretary of the Party Branch of Thanh Dong village, “The village has established regulations and customs and publicly posted them at the cultural center. These regulations highlight and emphasize good customs and practices, as well as measures to limit and eventually eliminate outdated and backward practices. The villagers have adopted a civilized lifestyle in their behavior, communication, eating, living, traveling, weddings, funerals, and festivals. Regulations on preventing and combating domestic violence, building happy families, and developing healthy cultural activities have all been implemented by the village. In addition, we also focus on propaganda and mobilization, while strengthening close coordination among organizations within the political system, thereby creating a ripple effect in the community.”
To ensure the widespread implementation of the "National Unity for Building a Culturally Rich Life" movement, Dong Thanh commune established a steering committee. The committee focused on disseminating information to all segments of the population. In particular, the propaganda efforts were innovative, diverse, and flexible, utilizing various methods from the public address system, billboards, and slogans to conferences and seminars, all aimed at raising public awareness of civilized lifestyles. As a result, the implementation of civilized lifestyles in weddings, funerals, and festivals has seen significant improvements. Weddings are now organized more simply and economically; the practice of prolonged feasting and taking leftovers has been gradually eliminated. In funerals, many new and effective models have been adopted, reducing cumbersome procedures while ensuring solemnity and economy. By 2025, the rate of weddings conducted in a simple, economical, and civilized manner will reach 96%, the rate of funerals conducted according to civilized customs will reach 90%, and the rate of cremation will reach nearly 60%, contributing to changing perceptions and forming a civilized lifestyle in the community.
Besides promoting a civilized lifestyle, Dong Thanh commune also focuses on developing mass cultural and sports activities. Cultural and artistic activities, as well as sports, are regularly maintained, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people. Since the two-tiered local government came into operation, the commune has organized sports festivals, cultural and artistic activities, and volleyball tournaments on holidays and major anniversaries of the homeland and the country...
In addition, environmental protection and the creation of a green, clean, and beautiful rural landscape are maintained in an orderly manner. Villages and hamlets organize regular general cleaning every Sunday afternoon, maintaining waste collection, beautifying village roads and alleys, and gradually improving the quality of the living environment.
Building a cultural life is a crucial foundation for the sustainable development of the locality. According to Le Thu Huong, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Dong Thanh Commune: "The Department has advised the Commune People's Committee to continue improving the quality of the 'All People Unite to Build New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas' movement, in conjunction with continuing to implement the 'Year of Administrative Discipline 2026', promoting civilized lifestyles in weddings, funerals, and festivals, building villages, hamlets, and residential areas that are 'bright, green, clean, and beautiful', ensuring clear roads and sidewalks for traffic safety, security and order, fire prevention, and environmental sanitation. Through this, we have mobilized the strength of the people and social resources to build and maintain arts and sports clubs, creating a solid foundation for building a cultural life in the locality..."
