The seminar, organized by the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning in coordination with the Central Propaganda Department and the Ministry of Education and Training, was themed "Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on training and striving to become good citizens and good cadres, contributing to improving the quality of human resources in the new era."

In her opening remarks, Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan, President of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning, affirmed that the conference was organized to conduct a more in-depth study of President Ho Chi Minh 's thoughts on the role of human beings in each field, and the criteria for evaluating good citizens and good officials in building and developing the country.

From there, each educational institution will have better plans for developing training and professional development programs, as well as creating educational curricula, content, and methods that meet the country's development requirements and contribute to improving the quality of human resources in the new era.

Representatives from 63 provinces and cities nationwide, along with scientists, educators, and experts, participated in discussions on related topics, focusing primarily on two main areas: firstly, criteria for evaluating good citizens and good officials, and striving to become good citizens and good officials in the current context; and secondly, the application of President Ho Chi Minh's ideology to the development of training goals, training programs, and training methods to cultivate a highly competent and specialized workforce in various fields of social life, especially education.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long stated: In the process of industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration, the task of developing high-quality human resources has become one of the core elements for Vietnam to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with developed countries.

Quoting President Ho Chi Minh's teaching, "To build a nation, we must first have people," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that in every stage of the country's development, the human factor always plays a decisive role.

Studying and following the ideology of President Ho Chi Minh is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about striving to become exemplary citizens, honest and ethical officials with vision, and a spirit of dedication to the country and the people.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that, through the workshop, units should continue to study and thoroughly understand President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on good citizens and good cadres, applying them to continuously improve the quality of cadres, teachers, and members of the Association for the Promotion of Learning, as well as to the political, ideological, and civic education of students, striving to become "learning citizens," contributing to the formation of a high-quality workforce that is both politically sound and professionally competent for the country.

During the workshop, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son emphasized the aspect of "good people" in the 2018 General Education Program currently being implemented, one of the contents closely adhering to President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on training and striving to become good citizens and good cadres.

The 2018 general education program aims to cultivate and develop five qualities in students: patriotism, compassion, diligence, honesty, and responsibility.

In addition, students are encouraged to develop core competencies such as: autonomy and self-learning, communication and collaboration, problem-solving and creativity.

These abilities and qualities inherit the spirit of Ho Chi Minh's thought in human development. Only on the foundation of "good people," living responsibly and happily, can we have good citizens, good officials, and a high-quality workforce.
