Deploying digital technology and innovation projects

Dong Nai province focuses on attracting investment and forming technology zones, focusing on attracting investment in semiconductor, artificial intelligence (AI), renewable energy projects, associated with Long Thanh Airport. Of which, the two important projects are Long Thanh Concentrated Digital Technology Park and Dong Nai Innovation Zone.

According to the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Nai province, the department has presided over and coordinated with relevant departments, branches and units to conduct a field survey of the boundaries of the area planned to establish the Long Thanh Concentrated Digital Technology Park. Up to now, the department has completed the 1/2,000 scale zoning planning task dossier and is awaiting project appraisal.

This project is one of three high-tech, digital technology, and innovation zones according to the Dong Nai Province Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. The project aims to create a premise for the development of the digital technology industry, creating links in the technology chain and manufacturing digital technology products in the province. This project is expected to cover an area of about 119 hectares in 2 communes: Binh An and An Phuoc.

According to many experts, the development of the Long Thanh Concentrated Digital Technology Park will contribute to helping Dong Nai develop a digital technology industrial ecosystem, as well as giving the locality many opportunities to attract international experts and scientists to transfer high technology, connect data, and develop the digital technology industry.

Mr. Huynh Luong Huy Thong, Director of VNPT Group's Digital Data Center, shared: One of the contents that Dong Nai needs to focus on in developing smart cities is developing digital technology services, e-commerce and logistics connecting with Long Thanh Airport, as well as improving the efficiency of urban infrastructure management, especially new urban areas, airport urban areas, etc.

For the Dong Nai Innovation Zone Project, the Department of Science and Technology surveyed the location and consulted the Department of Construction on establishing a 1/2,000 scale zoning plan for this project, with an area of about 300 hectares in Binh An commune.

Mr. Tran Giang Khue, Head of the Southern Office, National Office of Intellectual Property, commented: Dong Nai has a strategic location, is an industrial "capital" with a large population and area, and is a dynamic economic center of the Southern key economic region. Therefore, the formation and development of an innovation center will contribute to the development of a network of support centers, technology transfer, and promote the development of an innovation ecosystem in Dong Nai.

Strengthening connections, promoting development potential

Long Thanh Airport and Phuoc An Port are two infrastructure projects in strategic locations, easily connecting Dong Nai province with major markets in the region and the world. Thereby, helping Dong Nai province have many conditions to develop integrated free trade zone models, aiming to become an international center of logistics, technology, trade, and innovation.

Dong Nai is researching and building a Free Trade Zone Project with a scale of about 8.2 thousand hectares to take full advantage of Long Thanh Airport, Phuoc An Port and many industrial parks in the province. This complex free trade zone is expected to have 4 functional sub-zones including: high-tech industrial production functional zone; logistics zone; financial and commercial service zone; innovation zone.

During his visit and work at the Long Thanh International Airport Project on November 13, General Secretary To Lam emphasized: The construction of an airport city and the development area around the airport must be calculated for synchronous investment and must be placed in the overall plan to promote efficiency. Long Thanh Airport must be planned with the center and focal point, and around the airport, areas must develop high-tech industry, tourist areas, urban areas, etc. All must be synchronous to bring about efficiency.

Comrade Le Truong Son, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: The projects of Long Thanh Concentrated Digital Technology Park, Dong Nai Innovation Park... have special significance in concretizing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation in the province.

Relevant departments, branches and units need to proactively ensure the progress and implementation process of the project in accordance with regulations and local planning. At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to the connection with urban development projects and the Dong Nai Free Trade Zone Project in a suitable and effective manner to promote the strengths and potentials when Long Thanh Airport comes into operation.
