The robot can be guided to massage the entire back or target specific areas.
Recently, Flexiv Technology Company in California, USA, has launched a robot that replaces people in doing massage work. The robot is called Rizon 4. It is a robotic arm with 7 levels of freedom of movement, weighs 20kg, and is equipped with a soft silicone heated massage tool.

Flexiv’s adaptive robot mimics the skill and dexterity of a human massage therapist. Combining computer vision and artificial intelligence-based software (on a connected control box), the robot begins by locating the approximate location of the patient’s spine and major muscle groups. It then uses silicon tools and a force feedback system to establish their exact positions through a series of probes.
During the massage, the robot uses a tool to press into the patient’s back muscles, simulating techniques used in Chinese deep tissue massage. The robot can be guided to massage the entire back or target specific areas. The massage area is then determined by AI so that optimal massage pressure is always maintained, responding quickly to even the smallest movements, contours, and angles.
