Students at Cam Thuy 3 High School sign a pledge to prevent and combat social evils from infiltrating the school.
Social evils can occur at any age but are most common among young people and teenagers. This is a period when both their psychological and physiological development undergoes sudden changes. Without proper education and management from family and school, children of school age are very easily drawn into the path of vice. Recognizing this, in addition to propaganda work, the Thanh Hoa education sector has issued many documents requiring schools to implement, thoroughly understand, and equip teachers and students with basic knowledge and skills to prevent social evils; build models of "Safe Schools Free from Crime," crime reporting boxes, and help-for-friend boxes to promptly grasp the situation and handle emerging incidents... In particular, every year, the sector coordinates with functional units and local authorities to launch a month-long campaign to prevent social evils and drug abuse from infiltrating schools.
For example, at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, at Cam Thuy 3 High School, the Department of Education and Training (GD&ĐT) coordinated with relevant agencies to organize a launching ceremony for the month-long campaign encouraging students to strictly comply with laws on drug prevention and control. At the launching ceremony, representatives from the Department of Education and Training requested Cam Thuy 3 High School in particular, and schools throughout the province in general, to proactively integrate knowledge about drug prevention and control, HIV/AIDS, and social evils into the main curriculum, especially in related subjects such as Civic Education, Biology, and Geography... with the goal of ensuring 100% of students and teachers are equipped with basic knowledge about the harmful effects of drugs and other social evils. The Department of Education and Training also requested schools to proactively establish hotlines and complaint boxes to receive information about behaviors related to drug crimes and social evils. Working closely with the police force and local authorities, strengthen efforts to prevent and detect drug-related crimes and prostitution in schools...
Following the directives of the education sector, schools, especially junior and senior high schools, have focused on implementing many practical solutions to prevent social evils from infiltrating schools, such as: organizing launching ceremonies and signing pledges to say no to drugs and social evils in schools; organizing extracurricular activities to help teachers and students understand social evils, especially drug abuse and its consequences, thereby raising self-prevention awareness in the community. According to the assessment of the Department of Education and Training, currently, 100% of schools in the province have developed education programs on drug prevention, HIV/AIDS prevention, and prevention of social evils suitable to the characteristics of each school and locality. Many units have implemented these programs well, such as Lang Chanh High School, Quang Xuong 4 High School, Yen Dinh 2 High School, etc.
In parallel with the education sector, in recent times, the prevention and control of social evils infiltrating schools has also received attention and involvement from organizations and associations such as the Youth Union and the Women's Union. For example, the effective organization of the campaign "Building a beautiful image of Thanh Hoa youth in the new era"; the forum "Young people living beautifully and usefully"; the establishment and operation of clubs such as: "Youth and the Law," "Youth volunteers in drug prevention and control"... Recently, at Hong Duc University, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union, in coordination with relevant agencies, successfully organized the "Golden Bell Ringing" competition to test legal knowledge among Youth Union members and young people in 2025, with the participation of a large number of students from universities, colleges, and high schools throughout the province. The goal of the competition was to equip participants with knowledge to prevent and control social evils. The legal regulations related to traffic safety, responsibility when participating in cyberspace, and the consequences of aiding and abetting illegal activities are disseminated to a large number of students. This contributes to building a civilized, safe, drug-free, and socially responsible school environment; and simultaneously spreads the message of "living beautifully - living usefully - living in compliance with the law in the digital age."
It is evident that, thanks to proactive and flexible propaganda efforts and numerous activities implemented extensively in schools, the prevention and control of social evils infiltrating schools has yielded positive results. However, to achieve even greater success in this task in the current period, it requires the joint efforts and strong determination of relevant agencies, Party committees, authorities, and each family. In particular, students themselves need to raise their awareness, adopt a healthy lifestyle, avoid reckless behavior, and actively and proactively prevent and avoid social evils. According to a representative from the Secondary Education Department of the Department of Education and Training, in the coming school years, all measures to prevent and control social evils will be implemented seriously, synchronously, and decisively in each school and each classroom. Action plans will also be regularly checked to ensure that the set goals are achieved in order to prevent and repel social evils from infiltrating schools.
