According to statistics from the health sector, from 2020 to May 31, 2025, the whole province had 180 children (both boys and girls) who were sexually abused, abused and suffered other forms of harm. The main reason is due to the limited awareness of parents, caregivers and children themselves about preventing and combating violence and abuse, and the lack of supervision of children. Some children live in imperfect family situations, lack affection, do not receive education, and are not properly cared for, so they are easily exploited, enticed, or forced into unwanted behaviors. Some families have children who have been abused but do not report the crime because of fear, guilt, and insecurity...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nham, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, said: The unit has coordinated with departments, branches and localities to advise the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to direct localities on child care, education and protection. Strengthen communication, through response activities such as "Month of action for children"; Month of action for gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence; International Day for the elimination of violence against women and children (November 25). At the same time, focus on organizing training courses, improving capacity for staff working in child care, education and protection in communes.

Over the past 5 years, the province has organized 159 propaganda sessions on legal policies to support and intervene in children who have suffered violence, abuse or children at risk of violence and abuse for more than 54,000 people. Hanging 420 banners; 40 panels; printing and distributing more than 21,000 leaflets; 3,000 communication documents; 51,600 leaflets on family and prevention of domestic violence and child abuse. Organizing 25 competitions and forums for children, attracting more than 6,500 students from schools to participate. In communes, more than 1,700 times on protecting children from violence and abuse have been broadcast on loudspeakers.

Mo village kindergarten, Hoa Hong Kindergarten, Chieng Khuong commune, invested in a playground for children.

Departments, branches and functional forces have coordinated to receive information and handle acts of child abuse; organized screening, health care, treatment and counseling for victims; requested expert examinations for 323 injured and abused children; prosecuted 140 cases, with 208 defendants; handled 12 administrative cases, with 48 subjects related to child abuse crimes. Provided legal aid to 121 cases of children who were subjected to violence, abuse and at risk of violence and abuse.

Muong Lan is a border commune with many difficulties in the province. The whole commune has more than 4,000 children under 16 years old, accounting for more than 37% of the total. Of which, the number of orphans and disabled children is 78. Ms. Tong Thi Quyen, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: The commune has stepped up propaganda and mobilized families to send their children to school at the right age, not to marry early or marry in close relatives; to take care of the health and pay attention to the psychology of children, especially adolescents. Coordinate with units and businesses to visit and give gifts to children in especially difficult circumstances. 100% of disabled children, orphans, and children without support receive monthly social allowances.

To strengthen the prevention and control of child abuse and violence, the health sector focuses on coordinating with other sectors, functional forces, and communes to screen and detect children at risk of abuse to provide timely support. Organize practical and meaningful activities and models to help orphans, abandoned children, and abused children integrate into the community. Coordinate to expand crime reporting addresses, encourage people to provide information about children at risk of abuse and abused children for timely intervention. Pay attention to implementing social security policies for children in difficult circumstances. Innovate both the form and content of propaganda, dissemination, and raise people's awareness of preventing and combating crimes against children...

Protecting children from violence and abuse is a common responsibility of the community and the whole society, with the participation of all levels and sectors, and the joint efforts of each individual, so that children can live in a safe, healthy environment and develop comprehensively.
