Kim Thu's family often takes photos to preserve memories together.
Huy Phong and his wife in Ninh Kieu ward have just organized a trip to celebrate their 22nd wedding anniversary. On the day of their return, the family album became thicker with many printed photos, the beautiful ones were hung in the living room, on the study table, and on the desk. Phong and his wife have saved many photo files of family members on their phones and computers. Through each stage of their children's development, Phong recorded memorable moments such as when they were born, teething, their first birthday, graduation from school... Phong and his wife also have many photos during their time together, from the time they first started their career, through many hardships to when they built a stable economy . In particular, the simple wedding photos taken by a friend in the past, every time they look back, the couple feels more love for each other.
With his large family in the countryside, every time he returned home, Phong took photos with his siblings, children and grandchildren and sent them to each other. Later, due to time and illness, the family photos had a few more blank spaces, and the remaining people's affection was filled. Phong said: "My siblings and I are very close, since our parents passed away, we love each other even more. Each of us went our separate ways to make a living, and we didn't have the conditions to live close by, so whenever we met, we took the opportunity to take photos. I developed the photos of my parents and siblings when they were young, and restored the damaged ones, and we kept them together. My wife and I often look at the photos of the whole family with our children and tell old stories, to appreciate what we have more. For me, family photos are not only memories but also preserve family affection."
Kim Thu’s phone in Tay Ninh province is full of pictures of family members. Each photo is a memory recording each happy, sad, and sweet stage in their life together. Even though siblings are angry with each other, every time they look back at old frames with many memories, their sadness disappears. Now that they have a phone, taking photos becomes easier, Thu often saves memorable moments such as celebrating each other’s birthdays, celebrating her parents’ wedding anniversary, her children playing, and gathering around meals…
In particular, every year during Tet, Ms. Thu’s family takes pictures in front of her grandparents’ house, a place that preserves the childhood memories of the members, and is also a warm home filled with love, where family members support each other through ups and downs. Sometimes when she is tired from worrying about life and work, looking at family photos gives Ms. Thu more motivation to strive. Ms. Thu also encourages her children to take pictures of each other, so that they can have memories to share later…
Thanks to his parents taking pictures, now Mr. Huu Danh in Hung Phu ward has a very cute set of childhood photos with his second sister. On the wall of his house, Mr. Danh hangs many pictures of his younger siblings with his parents. The days when his father took him out to play or his mother bought him a new shirt... were also saved. Later, Mr. Danh took pictures of his two sons who looked exactly like their father next to his picture when he was young, and everyone who saw them admired them. Mr. Danh often took out the family album to show his children their relatives, told them how their grandparents raised their father, and then told them to be filial and obedient... Every Tet, Mr. Danh's whole family often went to the shop to take a set of photos together. Mr. Danh confided: "Every spring, comparing the pictures, over time, seeing my parents' hair turn gray, myself getting older, and my children growing up, I was extremely moved, silently praying for my family to be peaceful and happy together"...
Family is where love begins. Each of us has many memorable memories with family and relatives, and preserving memories through photos is the simplest way to return to beautiful memories. Photos with the presence of grandparents, parents, and children also show respect and connection between generations. Each family has its own story, from daily activities to important occasions. Take the time to take photos, record every loving moment with loved ones, helping us look back at each other after many years, so that family memories and the bond of love in each person are always present, never fading...
