Comprising nearly 50% of the province's population, women in Bac Kan are a vital workforce, actively present in all aspects of life. They have been actively participating in programs to build new rural areas, achieve sustainable poverty reduction, and develop OCOP (One Commune One Product) products. Many women have pioneered digital transformation, developing businesses on digital platforms, and bringing the province's distinctive agricultural products beyond its borders. Furthermore, the role of women in the development of cooperative economics is increasingly evident, contributing to the realization of the province's socio-economic development goals.

One exemplary figure is Ms. Nong Thi Biet, Director of Minh Anh Cooperative, Xuat Hoa Ward, Bac Kan City. Passionate about local produce, especially medicinal mushrooms, she dedicated much time to researching and learning the techniques of cultivating reishi mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, etc. After mastering the techniques, she decided to invest in building small production workshops, utilizing agricultural by-products such as sawdust, straw, and wood chips to produce mushrooms for the market.

In 2011, with the desire to create jobs for local workers, she and several other women established the Minh Anh Cooperative, marking a major turning point in her entrepreneurial journey. From the early days of facing many difficulties, the Minh Anh Cooperative has gradually stabilized and developed strongly. The cooperative's mushroom products not only ensure food safety but also reflect the local identity, establishing a foothold in the market.

With a spirit of innovation, the cooperative has continuously expanded its scale and diversified its products, including Reishi mushroom tea bags, sliced wood ear mushrooms, and Reishi mushroom bonsai. Currently, the cooperative has 6 products that have achieved OCOP 3-star provincial certification. Notably, the Minh Anh Reishi mushroom bonsai product was honored at the 7th Bac Kan Provincial Technical Innovation Competition. In 2024, the cooperative's revenue reached over 2 billion VND, and its market expanded to many provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, and Bac Giang .

Ms. Nong Thi Biet shared: “I always hope that the cooperative's products will not only bring economic value but also contribute to spreading the habit of using clean and safe agricultural products to consumers. What I am most passionate about is creating sustainable jobs for local women, so that they can be more confident in life and gradually assert their role in the family and society.”

Ms. Biệt's story is a vivid testament to the resilience and creativity of women in Bac Kan in economic development, effectively exploiting the potential and advantages of the locality.

To further motivate female members on their entrepreneurial journey and economic development, the Women's Union at all levels in Bac Kan province has carried out many practical activities in recent times. Besides supporting access to loans, the Union has also organized numerous training courses to improve management skills and business startup abilities for its members. From 2020 to the present, the province has organized 82 training courses on project development, startup idea development, e-commerce skills, livestreaming sales, etc., for over 4,200 female members.

Ms. Phan Thi Na, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, stated: "In the coming time, the Women's Union at all levels will continue to innovate its methods of operation, strengthen support for women starting businesses and developing the economy in conjunction with the application of digital transformation. The ultimate goal is to improve the material and spiritual lives of members, helping women to be more confident in integration and sustainable development."

With the support of the Women's Union and their own tireless efforts, women in Bac Kan are gradually asserting their position and role in the family and society, making positive contributions to the development of their homeland, making it increasingly prosperous and civilized.
