"Homes of Compassion"

2025 marks a significant milestone – the year of the establishment of the Thuan An Commune Women's Union, under the Hanoi City Women's Union. This organizational change, with 8,110 members operating in 55 branches, is not just a number, but represents a powerful force of unity forged from 46 residential branches and 9 specialized branches.

In the journey to eradicate poverty, secure housing remains the strongest foundation for every family. For the women of Thuan An, each house is not only built with bricks, mortar, and concrete, but also constructed from the sharing of thousands of members, many local people, and philanthropists who always empathize with difficult circumstances.

Ms. Bui Thi Loi, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Thuan An Commune, shared that in 2025, the Union supported the construction of 4 new "Houses of Love" with a total budget of 240 million VND. This is not simply a financial figure; it represents a dream come true for women in difficult circumstances, providing them with a place to shelter from the rain and sun so they can focus on their work.

Besides building homes, the Association also donated 6 means of production worth 60 million VND to member families in need of support. These families include: Ms. Nguyen Thi Dao - Chi Nam village, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh - Gia Lam village, Ms. Nguyen Thi Chinh - Giao Tat A village, Ms. Nguyen Thi Buom - Giao Tat B village, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung - Linh Quy Dong village, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Uyen - Ngo 3 village. These "tools" - whether sewing machines, livestock, or tools for their trades - have helped many member families change professions, create jobs, increase income, stabilize their lives, and confidently stand on their own two feet.

Sustainable poverty eradication is not just about material gifts, but also about understanding and support. In 2025, the Association's humanitarian and charitable work touched the hearts of the community by donating 300 gift packages to women and orphaned children with a budget of over 150 million VND. In particular, the "Godmother" program has become a shining example of humanistic values.

According to Bui Thi Loi, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Thuan An commune, in 2025, the Union will sponsor 13 orphaned children, providing an average monthly support of 500,000 VND per child; continue to monitor and assist 40 children in difficult circumstances, and donate 95 gifts worth 28.5 million VND to them. At the same time, the Union will maintain fundraising activities such as the "Sponsor's Booth" and collecting recyclable materials.

On a monthly basis, the foster mothers dedicate time to supporting the children's studies, maintaining regular contact with teachers to understand and keep track of the children's academic progress at school... On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Women's Association of the commune presented 13 gifts to the foster children with a total cost of 2.6 million VND; and proposed to the Commune People's Committee to donate 5 bicycles to 5 foster children with a total cost of 10 million VND.

Beyond just providing cash, these women also take care of the children, providing them with school uniforms, new textbooks, and bicycles to help them get to school. This is how the women of Thuan An sow seeds of hope, ensuring that poverty is no longer a barrier to the future of the next generation.

In addition, the Women's Union of the commune and its branches also carried out propaganda and mobilization of officials, members, and women, and mobilized social resources to visit and present 25 gifts to disabled women in difficult circumstances in the area, worth 7.5 million VND.

Maintaining sustainable poverty eradication

Working together with the local authorities to maintain sustainable poverty eradication, the Women's Union of Thuan An commune has actively helped women who are heads of households to improve their lives, enabling them to invest in expanding production and business, creating more jobs, increasing income, and becoming wealthy. The Union continues to explore and support its members in accessing preferential interest rate loans to develop their businesses , coordinating with the Social Policy Bank to manage a total of over 94.606 billion VND in capital, providing loans to 1,265 member households.

Ms. Vu Thi Hanh, residing in Toan Thang residential area, stated that her family received support from the Women's Union of the commune in the form of a 20 million VND loan under the clean water and sanitation program and a 90 million VND loan under the job creation program. Thanks to this, Ms. Hanh's family had the opportunity to invest in opening a garment factory, developing production, and increasing income. Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam in Giao Tat A village received a 70 million VND loan from the job creation program and a 20 million VND loan from the clean water and sanitation program to invest in changing the crop structure, resulting in higher economic efficiency.

Many women in Thuan An have been given access to preferential loans, acting as a "lever" in economic development, helping them and their families improve their lives. "In 2015 alone, 16.96 billion VND was disbursed to 113 households. The loan capital was allocated to the right recipients, effectively utilized, and capital management was ensured in accordance with regulations," affirmed Bui Thi Loi, Chairwoman of the Thuan An Women's Union.

Furthermore, the Women's Union of the commune and its grassroots branches have reviewed, assisted, and proposed specific solutions to the government to help 11 near-poor households headed by women; registered to assist 4 near-poor households headed by women and 16 households with difficult circumstances through measures such as: providing preferential loans, equipping them with knowledge, assisting with labor, livestock, supplies, raw materials, and supporting tools and means of production... As a result, all households have overcome difficulties and their lives have become more stable. In addition, the Union has also advised and introduced jobs for 170 workers to work in units and businesses in the area.

In particular, the Women's Union of Thuan An commune continues to focus on supporting the military and showing gratitude to those who sacrificed for the country. On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27th), the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19th, 1945 - August 19th, 2025), and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2nd, 1945 - September 2nd, 2025), the Women's Union of Thuan An commune and its branches organized many activities to help families of martyrs who are living alone; visited mothers and wives of martyrs, female war invalids and sick soldiers, and policy beneficiary families in the commune; and presented 97 gifts with a total value of 45.2 million VND.

Entering the digital age, women in Thuan An are not standing idly by. They have flexibly applied information technology to improve the efficiency of their work. The Fanpage of the Thuan An Women's Union has attracted more than 8,000 followers, becoming an effective channel for connecting and directing activities. Through social media, knowledge about economic development and successful models, such as: "Household waste sorting and treatment," building "Model flower-lined roads," maintaining 8 "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe - Civilized" residential areas, and implementing the "Building a family with 5 no's and 3 clean's" campaign associated with building civilized and happy families... have been widely disseminated.

Upon arriving in Thuan An and seeing the nearly 1,000-meter-long mural-lined roads in Linh Quy Dong village, or the model road project worth over 50 million VND in Nhan Le village, everyone understands that: When women are determined, not only is their economic life improved, but the appearance of their homeland also becomes brighter, greener, cleaner, and more beautiful...
