On May 21st, in the Rach Tram area, Bai Thom commune, Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone ( An Giang province), a large-scale inspection and enforcement operation was launched to reclaim every square meter of forest land that had been illegally exploited.

Enforcement forces evicted 8 households for violations on May 21st.
Accordingly, authorities focused on thoroughly addressing serious violations by eight households, recovering over 39,400 m² of special-use forest land and state-managed land. This area, under the management of Phu Quoc National Park and the Phu Quoc Economic Zone Management Board, had been brazenly occupied and illegally claimed by individuals.
Most notably, there is the case of Ms. BTKT, who illegally occupied nearly 3.9 hectares of land to construct numerous unauthorized buildings. Ms. T. was not only forced to restore the land to its original state but also had to return over 287 million VND in illegal profits.
In the same area, another group of seven households also illegally subdivided forest land to build houses, severely altering the protected forest area, and evaded responsibility when being issued violation notices.
Previously, on May 20th, the People's Committee of An Giang province and the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone enforced the removal of four individuals who had arbitrarily erected concrete pillars, constructed buildings, and planted trees illegally on land managed by the state and Phu Quoc National Park. The total area of public land reclaimed in this operation amounted to 46,000 m² .
In contrast to the resolute handling of cases of deliberate violations, in the land clearance work for key projects in An Thoi ward, the local authorities have recorded very positive signs thanks to effective public relations work.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone met with, discussed, and clearly explained to the households the regulations related to the illegal occupation of public land.
On May 19th, a delegation led by the Chairman of the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People's Committee, Tran Minh Khoa, along with the participation of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, the police force, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, directly met with, dialogued with, and persuaded residents affected by the relocation. Thanks to persistent explanations of their rights and responsibilities, the delegation achieved a high level of consensus.
As a result, for the mixed-use urban development project in Bai Dat Do, residents handed over a total area of 3.05 hectares. Notably, through skillful public relations work, all six cases that had previously been subject to forced land reclamation orders agreed to sign the land handover agreement. Therefore, the authorities did not have to organize a force to enforce the plan.
Simultaneously, the APEC 2027 Boulevard project also received the handover of nearly 590 m² of land from local residents. The An Thoi Resettlement Urban Area project (phase 1) received the handover of more than 91 m² of land for the route.
The resolute enforcement against households encroaching on special-use forests in Rach Tram, combined with fostering consensus for the handover of cleared land for key projects in An Thoi, is of decisive importance.
This helps investors accelerate construction progress, complete technical infrastructure sooner, contribute to changing the urban landscape, and promote the sustainable socio-economic development of Phu Quoc.
