Accordingly, at 1:30 p.m. on July 9, the Tam Duong Bac Commune Police working group coordinated with veterinary and quarantine officers to detect and stop a truck transporting pigs of unknown origin without an animal quarantine certificate as prescribed.
The authorities conducted rapid tests on three random samples from the pigs, and the results showed that two-thirds of the samples were positive for African swine fever virus. All pigs were destroyed in accordance with quarantine and animal disease prevention procedures.
The truck carrying the pigs had the license plate number 34C-357.20, driven by VTC, born in 2000, residing in Nguyen Giap commune, Hai Phong city, carrying 23 pigs on the 36m wide road (TL310) in the direction from Tam Duong Bac commune to Tam Dao commune, Phu Tho province. The owner of the pigs was PKH, born in 1978, residing in Lac Phuong commune, Hai Phong city.
During the investigation, the subjects admitted that the pigs were purchased from a household in Dai Dinh commune, Phu Tho province and were being transported to Hai Phong for consumption. During the transportation process, the owner of the shipment did not register for quarantine according to legal regulations.
Currently, Tam Duong Bac Commune Police are continuing to coordinate with relevant agencies to investigate, clarify and handle the case according to the provisions of law.
