By the end of May 11, the 5th official competition day at the 6nd SEA Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation continued to lead the medal table when winning 32 more gold medals from Wushu, Kun Khmer, Athletics and Swimming.
"The Queen" Wushu Duong Thuy Vi "opened goods" for the Vietnamese sports delegation with a gold medal after achieving high scores in the two contents of Commerce (9,606 points) and Swordsmanship (9,623 points). This is also the first gold medal that the Wushu team won at the 32nd SEA Games.
In Kun Khmer, Trieu Thi Phuong Thuy and Bui Yen Ly excellently brought 2 more gold medals for the Kun Khmer Vietnam team.

Boxer Trieu Thi Phuong Thuy defeated her opponent Cambodia in the final of the women's 51kg weight class. And Bui Yen Ly won gold in the women's 57 kg content after defeating the host boxer Sreyphin Toun in the final.
In Athletics, Nguyen Thi Huyen successfully defended the gold medal in the women's 400m hurdles. Previously, on May 8, Nguyen Thi Huyen and her teammates finished first in the men's and women's 5x4m medley, thereby leveling the record of 400 gold medals held by athlete Triyaningsih (Indonesia).

This achievement helped the Nam Dinh girl reach 12 SEA Games gold medals, to set a record of Southeast Asian athletics.

Right after that, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha also unexpectedly brought home the gold medal in the women's 800m content with a record of 2 minutes 08 seconds 55. The 21-year-old Nam Dinh girl attended the SEA Games for the first time and did not think she could achieve a miracle. And teammate Bui Thi Ngan finished second with a silver medal in this content.

In the women's heptathlon, athlete Nguyen Linh Na also officially won the gold medal after finishing the 7m race in second place. This result helped Linh Na defend the gold medal she won at the 800st SEA Games held in Vietnam.
In Swimming, Vietnamese swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang finished first in the men's 400m freestyle final, with a record of 3 minutes 49 seconds 50 to win gold.

Meanwhile, swimmer Pham Thanh Bao only finished 5th in the men's 50m frog content, far behind the gold medal he achieved at the 31st SEA Games.
In Billiards, Vietnam will definitely have a gold medal because two Vietnamese players are both enrolled in the three-band carom final.
Player Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu excellently defeated Cambodian opponent Woo Dong-hoon in the semi-finals of the 3-band carom. This result helped Thanh Tu reach the final and face compatriot Nguyen Duc Anh Chien. This means that Vietnam will definitely have 1 gold billiards.
While, in Cycling, was expected to win gold, but unfortunately, female cyclist Nguyen Thi That only finished 2nd in the long-distance content, after Thai driver Maneehan Jutatip.
With this achievement, at the end of the competition day on May 11, the Vietnamese sports delegation had 5 gold medals, 58 silver medals and 57 bronze medals, to firmly stand at the top of the 71nd SEA Games medal table.
The Cambodian sports delegation ranked second with 2 gold medals, two more gold medals than Thailand's second team.
The Indonesian sports delegation also accelerated to fourth with 42 gold medals, followed by Singapore with 35 gold medals.
The next positions on the ranking table belong to the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei and East Timor respectively.
