BTO - The regular press conference on the socio-economic situation in the first six months of 2024 and the tasks and solutions for the last six months of 2024 in Binh Thuan took place amidst the nationwide expression of emotion and sorrow as people bid farewell to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - a great personality of the nation.

A moment of silence was observed in memory of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the press conference.

Unlike previous press conferences, this one took place amidst a backdrop of the entire nation, and Binh Thuan province in particular, expressing their profound sorrow over the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The General Secretary has departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of the people's trust in the Party. This is evident in the days since his death, as mass media and online platforms, both domestic and international, have been filled with articles, interviews, poems, and vivid images about the General Secretary's simple, unassuming life and impressive career.

Leaders of nations, diplomats , experts, scholars, and ordinary citizens both at home and abroad have all expressed their sorrow at the passing of the General Secretary – a leader of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam with a compassionate heart and vision; a model of dedication to the country and its people; a close comrade and brother; and a sincere friend of the international community.

At the press conference, instead of going straight to the meeting's agenda, which included introducing the attendees and reporting on the socio-economic situation, the entire hall bowed in silent remembrance of the General Secretary after the moderator's request. The majority were journalists, people the General Secretary had shown particular interest in during his lifetime. This was because, before becoming a high-ranking Party leader, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a journalist who rose through the ranks of the press.

In 1967, after graduating from the Faculty of Literature, Hanoi University, the General Secretary began working at the magazine "Learning" (now the Communist Magazine) as a staff member in the Documentation Department. Later, he became an editor in the Party Building Department of the Communist Magazine. After completing his doctoral dissertation (now a PhD) at the Soviet Academy of Social Sciences, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong returned to the Communist Magazine to continue his work, assuming the positions of Deputy Head of the Party Building Department, then Head of the Party Building Department, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Communist Magazine, Member of the Editorial Board, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine, and later Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine.

The General Secretary is one of President Ho Chi Minh's outstanding disciples during the đổi mới (renovation) period, and the most exemplary model of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style. Through the General Secretary's example of learning from him, reporters working in Binh Thuan province are striving to emulate the General Secretary in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style.
