Vietnamese pickleball favors a team competition model.

The "Play Beyond" pickleball friendly tournament took place on the afternoon of May 15th at AP Sports Club (Ho Chi Minh City), bringing together many outstanding athletes and players from the Vietnamese pickleball community.

According to experts, pickleball is rapidly developing in Vietnam among young players in major cities.

The event was organized in a team competition format inspired by the Major League Pickleball (MLP) system in the United States. Four teams, representing four different colors of the VEGA racket line, each team consisting of two players and two invited guests, competed.

Many familiar faces from Vietnamese pickleball participated in the tournament, such as Luan TG, Cong Danh, Son Nghiem, Nguyen Phuc, Thanh Phuong, and Chi Nguyen. The matches were played at a high pace, focusing on short ball handling, reflexes, and coordination in doubles.

Compared to traditional competition formats, the team model creates a continuous competitive rhythm and demands connection between members. This is also a growing trend in amateur pickleball tournaments in Vietnam, aiming to increase interaction and enhance the competitive experience.

Besides the competitions, the program also includes interaction activities between athletes and amateur players, as well as opportunities to experience competition equipment from some of the sponsors such as Olaben.

According to experts, pickleball in Vietnam is rapidly developing among young players in major cities. The increase in the number of courts, amateur tournaments, and social activities in recent times shows the growing appeal of this sport .
