PSG and Mbappe remain at an impasse.

"However, following talks between Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Mbappe's mother, as well as Mbappe himself with PSG's sporting director, Luis Campos (according to French press reports), it seems that the parties are still at odds and no solution has been found."

PSG maintains its stance that Mbappe needs to negotiate an extension to his current contract. The Parisian club believes that, after everything they have done for the player – including all his requests, generous financial incentives, and the development of a project around him – they deserve it. Otherwise, Mbappe will be placed on the transfer list and will not be allowed to leave on a free transfer. Meanwhile, Mbappe has confirmed he is not negotiating an extension, but wishes to play out the remaining year of his contract and will leave as a free agent in the summer of 2024," Marca further reports.

"Mbappe's reasoning is considered unfair to PSG. Another solution offered was to activate the one-year extension clause until June 2025, but Mbappe would still be allowed to leave in June 2024 for a fee as desired by PSG. However, Mbappe doesn't seem keen on this idea after what he has already announced, and is wary of being further bound by PSG," Marca revealed.

Mbappe is in a difficult position at PSG.

"The situation is leading to a near-complete breakdown between PSG and Mbappe. The likelihood of the 24-year-old French star continuing to play at Parc des Princes next season is extremely low," according to Marca .

A source from Marca also stated: "Mbappe has reasons not to want to leave PSG right now because it would mean giving up a very large financial portion of his contract. In addition, Mbappe's image would be significantly affected with the French public due to commitments related to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Therefore, this will be a very complicated situation that both Mbappe and PSG will have to find a mutually agreeable solution for, and a parting of ways is almost inevitable."
