According to the investigation, the gang used social media platforms to attract investors to buy shares in film projects. By exaggerating production costs and expected box office revenue, investors would spend large sums of money to buy shares in the films.

Lanzhou City Procuratorate said that part of the fraud money was paid to the film producer, the rest was used by the criminals for personal purposes.

Suspecting that the production unit and artists involved in the project were also involved in the scam and illegally profited, the audience continuously criticized Shu Qi, Aaron Kwok, and Yang Tian Hua on social media platforms. Some viewers defended the artists, saying that they were only implicated and did not benefit from the scam.

Currently, the incident has caused a lot of controversy but no artist has officially responded.
