" Quang Hai returned early and had a week of training. During that time, he made every effort to meet my requirements. Cong Phuong and Van Toan returned later due to club regulations. All three players tried their best and were eager to prove their abilities to me, " said coach Philippe Troussier about the three players who joined the training camp late.
In the current Vietnam national team squad, Nguyen Quang Hai, Nguyen Cong Phuong, and Nguyen Van Toan are not playing in the domestic league. Quang Hai recently ended his contract with Pau FC (France), while Cong Phuong and Van Toan are currently playing for clubs in Japan and South Korea, respectively.

The Vietnamese national team has concluded a training session in preparation for their match against Hong Kong (China). Coach Troussier stated that he has tried to impart his knowledge and philosophy to ensure the players perform at their best.
" With my previous experience and practical skills, I hope the players will absorb the knowledge I impart well and be ready to face tomorrow's match ," said Troussier.
"After a week of training, all the players have worked hard to implement the playing style I want. I am pleased with their attitude. Although time was limited, I tried my best to impart knowledge so that the players could go onto the field ready for my first match with the Vietnamese national team."
The French coach's goal wasn't just to win his debut match with the Vietnamese national team. For a friendly match, the players' performance and the effectiveness of the experimental options were also very important.
Coach Troussier added: " I always want to show the best possible execution of our game plan. But to do that, the players must translate real-life situations, especially those in the final area of the pitch, such as passing, shooting, crossing, and ball distribution. From there, we will win."
Of course, winning isn't just about talking. The players on the field must all strive, show spirit, and support their teammates effectively. No opponent has been outplayed by the Vietnamese team throughout the entire match. A victory tomorrow will boost the team's confidence to build their playing style and look forward to the World Cup qualifiers in November ."
Coach Jorn Andersen highly regards the Vietnamese national team's level, as evidenced by their FIFA rankings (Vietnam at 95 and Hong Kong at 147). However, Coach Troussier has a different opinion.
" We know that in football, the assessment of strength isn't based on paper or rankings. We respect Hong Kong because we also know they've qualified for the Asian Cup next year. They're also building up their squad for the first round of World Cup qualifiers in October. That's why our opponents will show the greatest desire for tomorrow's match."
"We respect them and will play with 200% effort. We have done some research through video footage of Hong Kong's matches against Malaysia and Singapore last March. That material will help us prepare as best as possible for the match," Coach Troussier shared.
