According to Reuters, on December 12, Hong Kong police announced the arrest of a passenger on Cathay Pacific flight CX811 from Boston (USA) to Hong Kong.
The police received the report at 4:45 a.m. on December 11. The airline alleges that the individual attempted to open the door while the plane was in mid-air on December 10.
Cathay Pacific stated that no passengers or crew were injured, and the flight landed safely on the morning of December 11th.
"Our crew responded immediately, checking the doors to ensure safety and reporting the incident to the authorities and the police."
The case file has been handed over to the police for further investigation. At Cathay, the safety of our customers and crew is always our top priority in all our decisions," Cathay Pacific announced.
Hong Kong police later confirmed the incident, stating that the 20-year-old male passenger, from mainland China, had been arrested on charges of violating the Aviation Security Act.
The incident is currently under investigation by local police.
