Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, said that the country currently has more than 5,000 craft villages, many of which have become unique tourist destinations, offering local cultural experiences and showcasing traditional products.
However, many traditional craft villages are facing the risk of disappearing and losing their original character; therefore, developing craft village tourism is considered an important direction to preserve livelihoods and safeguard traditional values.
The National Tourism Administration hopes that through this workshop, delegates will propose solutions to improve product quality, create new hallmarks for craft village tourism, and contribute to the formation of an action plan for the 2026-2030 period.

The discussions focused on product innovation in the context of integration and digital transformation; policies to support the development of tourism in traditional craft villages; and solutions for more effective promotion.
Mr. Dao Duc Huan, Head of the OCOP and Rural Tourism Department (Central Office for New Rural Development Coordination), emphasized that craft villages need to change their development mindset, especially their community-oriented mindset and their mindset regarding creative spaces. Digital transformation should not only focus on digitizing information but also on developing products suitable for each target tourist group.
Many delegates also proposed strengthening destination linkages, building a digital map for the craft village system in the Mekong Delta, and establishing a set of standards for craft village tourism to create a basis for attracting international tourists.
According to statistics, the country has 5,400 craft villages and villages with traditional crafts; 1,975 craft villages and traditional craft villages have been officially recognized. Hundreds of craft villages across the country regularly welcome domestic and international tourists, becoming an indispensable part of many tours offered by travel agencies. Handicrafts, fine arts; textiles, embroidery; agriculture ; cuisine, etc., are actively contributing to the richness of Vietnam's tourism products.
