Quang Nam carefully prepares for the 2025 High School Graduation Exam

The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place at the end of June. Being held at the time of dissolving the district level and merging communes and wards, the direction of organizing the exam will certainly face many difficulties and challenges.

Complete the "historic mission"

Quang Nam has just organized the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year, including both specialized and non-specialized students. Taking place on June 3, 4 and 5, with more than 18,000 candidates taking the exam at 60 examination councils in all 17 districts, towns and cities, the large-scale exam spread across the entire province, similar to the national high school exam.

But with careful preparation by the education and training sector as well as the coordination of functional sectors and localities, the 10th grade entrance exam was successfully held, and was assessed to ensure serious requirements and compliance with regulations, especially security and safety.

This is the first time Quang Nam has organized an entrance exam for grade 10 instead of the selection method used in many years. To change the previously maintained admission method, the province has had a thorough and elaborate preparation process, from the professional work of the industry to the political will of the provincial leaders.

Through the exam, it shows that although there is a little more pressure on students and parents, the important thing is to aim at improving the quality of admission to high schools, contributing to creating motivation for students to study; at the same time, overcoming the limitations when implementing admission by the selection method. Therefore, the exam has received high consensus from society.

According to Mr. Thai Viet Tuong - Director of the Department of Education and Training, the first year Quang Nam province organized the 10th grade entrance exam, was also the last year before implementing the policy of merging with Da Nang City.

Therefore, this can be considered a “historic mission” that Quang Nam has just completed for Quang Nam Education and Training to enter a new journey. This is also considered a general rehearsal to prepare for the 2025 High School Graduation Exam.

Actively prepare for high school graduation exam

The 2025 high school graduation exam is the first year to be organized according to the 2018 General Education Program. The exam takes place on June 26 and 27. Candidates will take two subjects: Literature, Math, and an optional exam consisting of two subjects (2 subjects less than before).

As for students studying under the 2006 General Education Program (more than 550 students), they will take exams in Literature, Math, Foreign Language, natural science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or social science (History, Geography, Civic Education).

According to the Department of Education and Training, in the 2025 high school graduation exam, Quang Nam is expected to have a total of nearly 18,600 candidates taking the exam. The province will arrange 62 exam sites, including 52 exam sites at high schools and 10 exam sites at secondary schools. There are 2 exam sites for candidates taking the exam under the 2006 General Education Program in Hoi An and Tam Ky.

In preparation for the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, the Department of Education and Training has recently advised the Provincial People's Committee to establish a Steering Committee for the High School Graduation Exam in Quang Nam province, headed by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan; the deputy heads and members are leaders of departments, branches, and district-level People's Committees.

The Steering Committee is responsible for comprehensively directing the preparation and implementation of the 2025 high school graduation exam in the province and has held many meetings to disseminate the tasks.

Being held at the time when district-level activities are ending and communes and wards are merging, many people are concerned that the direction of the exam organization will encounter difficulties.

Mr. Dang Van Ky - Vice Chairman of Dai Loc District People's Committee is concerned about the work of ensuring security and order at the examination sites because the district-level police have been dissolved, leaving only the commune-level police, so it needs the attention and direction of the Provincial Police and the Provincial Examination Steering Committee.

A leader of the PA03 Department of the Provincial Police shared that after there were no more district-level police, the traffic and fire prevention and fighting sectors were all transferred to the province for management, so there was some difficulty in directing inspections at the exam sites.

However, the Provincial Police have issued a document directing and mobilizing the police of the communes near the examination sites to support the force to ensure security and safety during the examination. Certainly, during the examination period, the police force will actively coordinate with the sectors and localities to deploy the work of ensuring security, traffic safety, and fire prevention.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan at a recent meeting of the Steering Committee for the 2025 Quang Nam Provincial High School Graduation Exam emphasized the task and mission of organizing the final high school graduation exam of Quang Nam province, in the general spirit of trying our best, not being subjective, so that the exam takes place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.

Localities should strengthen coordination with the Department of Education and Training to organize the exam well. This work is not only the responsibility of the Department of Education and Training but requires the participation of other departments and localities.

A notable new point of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam is the combined use of learning process assessment scores (report cards) and exam results in considering high school graduation recognition at a ratio of 50 - 50. In addition, report card scores from grades 10 and 11 are also used (with a smaller weight than grade 12) instead of only grade 12 as before. Increasing the rate of using process assessment scores (report cards) from 30% to 50% to more closely assess learners' abilities.
