Quang Nam attracts domestic tourists during Independence Day holiday.

According to statistics from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, an estimated 193,000 tourists are expected to visit and stay in Quang Nam during the 2024 National Day holiday (an increase of about 16% compared to the same period in 2023). The average room occupancy rate decreased slightly compared to last year, reaching 55-60% (compared to 60-65% the previous year).

However, the high-end segment still recorded impressive booking numbers with occupancy rates of around 80-90%. Some places reached full capacity, such as the accommodation system at Dong Giang Sky Gate Eco-tourism Area on September 2nd and fluctuating around 95% on September 3rd.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the decrease in international tourists is due to the high number of international visitors to the locality leading up to National Day, and then a large portion of these visitors moved to other locations nationwide during the holiday. Conversely, the number of domestic tourists visiting Quang Nam during National Day was very high, especially in Hoi An.

Not only did Hoi An record a strong increase in domestic tourists during the National Day holiday, but Vinwonders Nam Hoi An (Thang Binh district) also welcomed an average of about 6,000 visitors per day (a 40% increase compared to normal days); Dong Giang Sky Gate Eco-tourism Area (Dong Giang district) received approximately 8,000 - 10,000 visitors for sightseeing and accommodation…

Even the My Son Sanctuary (Duy Xuyen district), which has long been a favorite destination for international tourists (regularly accounting for over 95% of the total number of visitors), welcomed nearly 1,000 Vietnamese tourists during the two main days of the September 2nd holiday (accounting for about 20% of the total number of visitors during this period).

A notable highlight of Quang Nam tourism during this year's National Day holiday is that many accommodations and entertainment destinations are decorating balconies and areas frequented by tourists with the national flag, or setting up special spaces with National Day themes to celebrate the nation's Independence Day and inspire tourists during their trips.

After a period of stagnation in the domestic tourism market, this is a positive sign for local tourism, especially in the context of the tourism industry facing the risk of declining numbers of both international and domestic tourists as the rainy season approaches.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Nam will launch a tourism stimulus program called "Golden Season of Quang Nam" in the near future, featuring many unique products to improve the decline in tourist numbers during the off-season, especially for the domestic market.
