| Quang Ngai is accelerating the process of handling surplus land and buildings to avoid waste. |
There are still dozens of surplus properties and land parcels that have not been dealt with.
According to a report from the Quang Ngai Department of Finance, a review revealed 341 surplus properties (houses and land) after restructuring. Of these, 78 are at the provincial level, including 29 transferred and 49 handed over to local authorities for management and processing. At the commune level, 263 are surplus, including 35 transferred and 228 handed over to local authorities for management and processing. To date, 277 properties have been transferred to local authorities for management and processing, including 49 at the provincial level and 228 at the commune level.
Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Sam requested that departments, agencies, and localities continue to review and expedite the handover, acceptance, and handling of surplus land and buildings; and at the same time, complete all relevant procedures to ensure effective management and use of public assets and avoid waste.
The Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to take the lead in reviewing and re-evaluating the approved public asset arrangement plans; and to promptly advise on adjustments to any content that is not in line with reality. At the same time, strengthen the inspection of the implementation of procedures after plan approval, the handover of assets to receiving units for management and use; and regularly monitor and urge agencies, units, and localities in the process of handling assets, ensuring efficient management and use of public assets, avoiding waste and loss.
Expedite processing and hold leaders accountable.
Regarding surplus land and buildings in the province, the Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Hoang Giang, has issued an urgent directive to relevant levels, sectors, and units to handle the matter.
In this regard, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that agencies, units, and localities urgently and seriously direct the acceleration of the implementation progress and ensure the completion of the handling, exploitation, and use of surplus buildings and land after the reorganization of the administrative apparatus; preventing damage, deterioration, and waste, and ensuring that this task is completed before June 20, 2026.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested a review of buildings and land that are still in use, or have been allocated or transferred to be used as offices or facilities for public service activities, to ensure compliance with the standards and norms for the use of offices and facilities for public service activities issued by competent agencies and individuals.
For properties and land that have already been allocated, transferred, or repurposed for use as offices, operational facilities, or for public purposes, instructions should be given to expedite the handover, acceptance, and commissioning process.
Heads of agencies, units, and localities are fully responsible to the Provincial People's Committee, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and competent authorities if delays occur in progress or if the handling of surplus land and buildings is not carried out according to proper procedures and regulations.
In addition, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province assigned and tasked Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Sam to directly instruct the Department of Finance to coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to work directly with each commune, ward, special zone or cluster of communes, wards, and special zones to implement the contents.
Specifically, it involves urging and directing the management, exploitation, and handling of land and buildings already allocated to communes, wards, and special zones for management, exploitation, and handling. It also includes guiding the development of plans for exploiting and handling surplus land and buildings; and directly providing feedback on proposed plans for exploiting and handling surplus land and buildings from communes, wards, and special zones, ensuring compliance with regulations and effectiveness.
