(MPI) - At the 9th Extraordinary Session of the 15th National Assembly on February 18, 2025, with the majority of National Assembly deputies approving the Resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal on the appointment of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term. Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung was approved by the National Assembly to be appointed Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.

Resolution approving the Prime Minister 's proposal on the appointment of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term, with 448 delegates participating in the vote (equal to 93.72% of the total number of National Assembly delegates); 448 delegates approved (equal to 93.72% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).
New Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung was born on August 5, 1960, in Ha Tinh; has a bachelor's degree in construction machinery, a doctorate in economic management; a member of the Central Committee of the 11th to 13th terms; a delegate of the 14th and 15th National Assembly. Minister Nguyen Chi Dung has held various positions at the Ministry of Planning and Investment for a long time before becoming Minister.
Accordingly, from December 1985 to April 2009, Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung was an expert of the Center for Appraisal of Foreign Investment Projects, State Committee for Cooperation and Investment (now the Ministry of Planning and Investment); Expert of the Department of Foreign Investment Project Management, State Committee for Cooperation and Investment (now the Ministry of Planning and Investment); Expert of the Department of Foreign Investment Project Management, Ministry of Planning and Investment; Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Investment Project Management, Ministry of Planning and Investment; Deputy Director of the Department of Small and Medium Enterprise Development (now the Department of Enterprise Development), Ministry of Planning and Investment; Director of the Department of Trade and Services (now the Department of Service Economy), Ministry of Planning and Investment.
From August 2008 to April 2009, he was Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment. From April 2009 to September 2010, he was Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province.
From September 2010 - June 2011: Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province. At the 11th National Congress of the Party, he was elected to the Party Central Committee.
From June 2011 - January 2014: Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Ninh Thuan province.
From January 2014 - April 2016: Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Party Executive Committee, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment. At the 12th National Congress of the Party, he was elected to the Party Central Committee.
April 2016: Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Minister of Planning and Investment.
At the 13th National Congress of the Party, he was elected to the Party Central Committee. Currently a delegate to the 15th National Assembly.
On February 18, 2025, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung was approved by the National Assembly to be appointed Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term./.
