According to Mr. Can's estimates, if the weather remains favorable as it is now, Thuan Nghia vegetable village is guaranteed to supply consumers with approximately 20 tons of various vegetables and root crops for Tet (Lunar New Year). It is projected that, with market prices around 10,000 VND/kg during Tet, the villagers will earn a total revenue of approximately 2 billion VND. After deducting costs for seeds, fertilizer, electricity, etc., the villagers of Thuan Nghia will have a profit of about 1.5 billion VND, which will be used to purchase essential items and food for the traditional Tet celebration.
According to statistics from the People's Committee of Tay Son commune, Thuan Nghia vegetable village currently has 224 households cultivating various vegetables and root crops on 38 hectares, comprising 9 interest groups (each group growing a specific type of vegetable according to family preferences). On average, each household in the village cultivates between 750 m2 and 5,000 m2. Among them, the households of Huynh Thi Ngoc (6,000 m2), Nguyen Thanh Giang (5,000 m2), and Tran Te The (4,000 m2) have the largest vegetable cultivation areas in the village. It is known that, in addition to growing vegetables within the village, some households also rent land in other localities to grow vegetables, increasing their family income.
According to Mr. Quach Van Can, Chairman of Thuan Nghia Agricultural Cooperative, on average, villagers produce about 6-7 crops of various vegetables and root crops per year (25-50 days/crop); 1 hectare of land produces about 50 tons of vegetables and root crops per year. With 38 hectares of land for vegetable cultivation, Thuan Nghia village supplies the market with about 2,000 tons of various vegetables and root crops (including cabbage, spinach, chrysanthemum, herbs, etc.) annually. At a price of 7,000 VND/kg, the villagers achieve a sales revenue of about 14 billion VND. After deducting expenses, the villagers earn a profit of about 10 billion VND per year. To improve product quality, the villagers will focus on intensive farming, introducing new vegetable varieties with high yield, quality, and value, such as cauliflower, spinach, bok choy, etc., into production.
Thanks to income from vegetable farming, the economic lives of households in the village have gradually stabilized and developed. Families in the village have been able to purchase many modern and expensive household items and equipment. In particular, families have had better conditions to care for and invest in their children's education. As a result, many children from the village have passed entrance exams and are studying at prestigious universities and colleges, and some are working successfully in major cities and provinces nationwide. Part of this success is also due to these children who have acquired new knowledge and modern scientific and technical achievements, which they have then passed on to their family members, applying them to production and improving the quantity, quality, and value of clean vegetable products from Thuan Nghia village.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Y., owner of a vegetable stall in Quy Nhon ward ( Gia Lai province), said: "For a long time now, vegetables from Thuan Nghia vegetable village have always been preferred by customers because they are clean, safe, and delicious. People feel secure about their health and their families' health when buying them. During every holiday, households always come to me to order fresh vegetables from Thuan Nghia vegetable village for their use."

According to many elderly people in the village, no one knows when Thuan Nghia vegetable farming village was established. Since birth and upbringing, they have been involved in vegetable farming for their livelihood, so all households in the village consider it a traditional family and village occupation, and everyone feels responsible for preserving and developing this traditional craft. Located between the vast Kon River and the Van Phong irrigation canal, the area receives fertile alluvial deposits annually, and the water supply is abundant, making it very favorable for the villagers of Thuan Nghia to cultivate and care for their vegetables. Almost all households in the village grow vegetables according to VietGAP standards.
To protect the village's brand of safe vegetables and ensure food safety for consumers, all households participating in vegetable cultivation in the village are committed to caring for the plants entirely with green manure and animal manure; controlling diseases with natural preparations or spraying pesticides according to the dosage prescribed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; and not using growth hormones or chemicals in harvesting and preservation.
Mr. Do Thanh Quyet, Deputy Head of the Culture Department of Tay Son Commune, said: "To create favorable conditions for the people of Thuan Nghia vegetable village to preserve and develop, every year, Tay Son Commune always creates all conditions for people to access preferential capital sources, coordinates with relevant agencies to organize training and transfer scientific and technological advancements for people to apply to production, supports people to participate in trade fairs to promote products, and especially, the commune has connected with purchasing businesses to ensure high-value output for the people, so that they can confidently develop production."
