The global race for humanoid robots is entering a boom phase as companies move beyond testing and directly into mass production at unprecedented speeds. The American startup Figure recently attracted attention when it announced it can produce one robot per hour at its BotQ factory in California, marking a leap forward in the industry.
In less than four months, the company increased its production capacity from one robot per day to one robot per hour, equivalent to a 24-fold increase and exceeding many previous predictions.
To achieve this, Figure implemented a smart manufacturing system connecting over 150 workstations, while also maintaining strict quality control with dozens of inspection points along the production line.
Robot Figure 03 is no longer a demonstration product but is designed according to an industrial production model similar to the electric car industry, with separate production lines for batteries, drives, and mechanical systems. Notably, the product completion rate on the first inspection exceeded 80%, while the battery production line reached 99.3%, demonstrating the increasing stability of commercial robots. Figure not only focuses on hardware, but also leverages real-world operational data to train the Helix AI system, helping the robot learn and adapt more quickly to complex environments.
With the integration of 3D vision and reinforcement learning, robots can now climb stairs, maintain balance, and move flexibly, opening up the prospect of AI truly stepping out of the laboratory and into everyday life.
