From April 17th to 22nd, 2026 (corresponding to the 1st to 6th day of the 3rd lunar month of the Year of the Horse), the Binh Da Festival, honoring the national ancestor Lac Long Quan, will take place in Binh Minh commune, Hanoi, on a large scale, attracting a large number of locals and tourists.

This festival, deeply rooted in national cultural identity, was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2014.

During the press conference introducing the festival, Mr. Nguyen Dang Viet, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Minh commune, Binh Da district, said that this is a rare ancient village with a "2-in-1" architecture, with a temple containing a communal house and a communal house located inside the temple.

The Nội Temple is located on a turtle-shaped mound called "Hoàng Qui Cung," connected to the Ba Gò area, traditionally believed to be the tomb of the national ancestor Lạc Long Quân. It currently houses a more than 1,000-year-old bas-relief, thought to date back to the time of King Đinh Tiên Hoàng, depicting Lạc Long Quân along with the Lạc lords and generals. This artifact was recognized as a National Treasure in 2015.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, emphasized that every Vietnamese person, no matter where they are, always looks back to their roots, is proud of their lineage and ancestors; he also stated that during a recent trip to Ca Mau, when visiting the Lac Long Quan temple, he deeply felt the sacredness and national pride – an emotion that anyone who sets foot in lands connected to their origins can feel.

The Binh Da Festival is not only an occasion to commemorate the nation-building contributions of the founding father, but also contributes to traditional education and fosters the spirit of "descendants of Lac and Hong." In the context of current development, the festival is organized with many innovations aimed at both preserving heritage and promoting local tourism.

This year's festival is part of the "Week of Vietnamese Root Culture," taking place from April 13 to 22, 2026. The opening ceremony will be held on the evening of April 19 at Noi Temple with the theme "The Spirit of Lac Hong - Convergence and Dissemination." The highlight will be the solemn procession, rituals, and incense offerings to the National Ancestor Lac Long Quan on the morning of April 22 (the 6th day of the 3rd lunar month).

In addition to the ceremonial part, many unique cultural and sporting activities will be organized, such as dragon dance, drum performance, offering of consecrated bread, traditional fireworks display, craft village fair, rice cake making competition, and folk games, contributing to a lively and attractive atmosphere for tourists.
