The Van Mountain - Vo Mountain Festival is held annually on the 4th day of the first lunar month to commemorate and express gratitude for the contributions of Prime Minister Luu Nhan Chu. History records that Luu Nhan Chu, a native of Van Phu commune, was one of the 18 people who, along with Le Loi, established the Lung Nhai Oath in 1416.
After the Oath of Lung Nhai, he, along with his father Luu Trung and his brother-in-law Pham Cuong, returned to Van Mountain - Vo Mountain to recruit soldiers, train forces, and made a significant contribution to the victory against the invading Ming army.
In remembrance of the contributions and benevolence of Prime Minister Luu Nhan Chu, every year on the 4th day of the Lunar New Year, the homeland of Van Mountain and Vo Mountain holds a festival, expressing the gratitude of the younger generation to their ancestor.
On the opening day of the festival, the ceremonial delegation representing the Luu clan, the Party Committee, and the local government organized a procession, offered incense, and presented a eulogy, recalling the patriotic traditions and heroic spirit of the nation; at the same time , reporting to the ancestors and forefathers about the achievements made in the process of renovation and development of the homeland.
Besides the ceremonial part, the festival part was lively with traditional folk games and unique cultural and artistic activities… contributing to a joyful, united, and close-knit community atmosphere.
In 2023, the Van Mountain - Vo Mountain Festival was officially included in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism according to Decision No. 239 dated February 14, 2023. The annual festival not only affirms the unique historical and cultural value but also becomes a source of pride for the people of Van Phu commune.
