Every March, the number of tourists visiting Dien Bien increases sharply, not only because of the allure of the Ban Flower Festival, but also because of the pristine white color of this flower. Many tourists share that just one glimpse of the ban flowers in bloom gives them more reason to return to Dien Bien in the Northwest region, where white ban flowers blanket the roads and hillsides.

March is the time when the bauhinia flowers in Dien Bien bloom most beautifully.
Ms. An Dieu Huong, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: “Previously, I only knew Dien Bien through history, but coming here during the bauhinia flower season felt completely different. The scenery is very poetic, both majestic and gentle. I took many beautiful photos and will definitely come back during other flower seasons.”
Besides the natural flowering seasons, with their creativity and adaptability, local people have also quickly grasped trends and developed flower cultivation models to serve tourism . Well-invested flower gardens, combined with miniature landscapes and accompanying services, have quickly become popular check-in spots attracting a large number of tourists.

The butterfly chrysanthemum garden of Mr. Chớ A Dùa's family in village 36, Na Sang commune, is conveniently located right next to National Highway 12.
In village 36, Na Sang commune, a vast garden of butterfly-winged chrysanthemums, spanning thousands of square meters, bloomed profusely during the recent Lunar New Year, becoming a popular destination for nature lovers and photographers. Located right next to National Highway 12, the garden welcomes hundreds of visitors daily. Not only locals from within the province, but also many tourists from neighboring provinces stop by to visit.
According to Mr. Chớ A Dùa, the owner of the butterfly chrysanthemum garden in village 36, to have a vibrant carpet of pink flowers, his family started preparing the soil and sowing seeds in late November 2025. The flowers are at their peak bloom around the end of January 2026 and will last for about two weeks.
"With an entrance fee of 20,000 VND per person, this model has brought a significant income to my family compared to traditional farming," Mr. Dua happily shared.

Beyond the short-lived flower seasons, the peach and plum blossom seasons also create a unique attraction for Dien Bien. While providing economic benefits, seasonal flower tourism contributes to promoting the local image and creating additional livelihoods for people in the highlands.
Located 15km from the center of Dien Bien Phu ward, the plum orchard of about 30 trees belonging to Ms. Lo Thi Thien's family in Nam Ngam A village, Pu Nhi commune, has become a familiar destination for tourists. The flowers usually bloom profusely at the beginning of the year, for about 1-2 weeks, so tourists often try to arrive early to capture these beautiful moments.
"We're not only open to visitors during the flowering season. After the flowering season, tourists can return in early May to experience picking fruit and buying some to take home," Ms. Thien said.
At the same time that plum blossoms are in full bloom, in Phu Long B village, Pu Nhi commune, peach orchards begin to show off their colors, adding another highlight to the flower season experience for tourists.

The cherry blossom garden in Muong Phang commune is a popular destination for many families to experience at the beginning of the year.
These peach orchards were previously cultivated by locals for their fruit. As more tourists came to take photos, the families decided to open their orchards to visitors for a fee of 20,000 VND per person per visit. They also offer rental services for costumes and accessories right in the orchards, catering to tourists who want to admire the flowers and take pictures.

Because she loves nature, Ms. Nguyen Hong Van, a resident of Dien Bien Phu ward, has visited almost all the seasonal flower-themed photo spots in the province. Ms. Van shared: "These destinations are both close to nature and convenient to get to, making them perfect for relaxing on weekends and creating lasting memories."
The vibrant colors of flowers attract tourists to visit and experience them, contributing to the diversification of Dien Bien's tourism products. With proper and synchronized investment, seasonal flower tourism can not only be a seasonal phenomenon but also become a distinctive highlight, helping to extend the length of stay and increase spending by tourists.
