Art playground in schools

In addition to classroom teaching, many schools focus on creating an environment for students to develop their talents and personal interests. Art clubs have become places to discover and nurture talent, cultivate emotions, and ignite dreams for students from their time in school.

Space for nurturing talent

At Le Quy Don Secondary School in Lao Cai Ward, there is a special learning space that many students love: the Art Room. This is also the meeting place for the school's Art Club. With an area of approximately 50 square meters, the room is designed in an open style and decorated vividly with a series of artworks created by the students themselves. From hand-drawn pictures and collages to themed drawings, everything is neatly arranged, creating a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere.

As the teacher in charge of the Art Club, Ms. Ly Thi Cuc said that the most important thing the club aims for is to create an open space for students to freely create and develop their talents.

Accordingly, students who love painting will focus on developing various genres, such as portraiture and original artwork; those with an inclination towards fashion design will be trained in garment sketching; and those interested in architecture will be given the opportunity to access practical drawing exercises; allowing them to freely express their creativity in all areas related to fine arts...

With over 40 members, the Art Club has been actively involved in many school activities. The students are responsible for decorating for extracurricular activities, holidays, and anniversaries, and participate in numerous painting competitions. Through these activities, many students have had the opportunity to showcase their talents.

Nguyen Phuong Linh (8C class) is a prime example, having won second prize nationwide in the "Sending a Green Future 2050" competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in collaboration with the Foundation for a Green Future – Vingroup Corporation. Her artwork stemmed from her vision of an environmentally friendly future. Phuong Linh shared: "When thinking about a green future, I think of technologies that don't harm the environment and help people develop better. Because I already had that idea, I completed the drawing in just one day."

According to Phuong Linh, the club environment has helped her make significant progress: “I got to meet many older students and friends who draw beautifully. Everyone shared ideas and encouraged me a lot. Each meeting brought me excitement and helped me learn many new skills.”

Aspiring to pursue a career in fashion design, Phuong Linh is currently honing her drawing skills, learning color coordination, and expanding her knowledge of fine arts.

Not only in the field of fine arts, many art clubs in schools are also becoming environments for students to develop their talents and express themselves. At Lao Cai Specialized High School, art clubs such as Music, Dance, and MC are very active, attracting many students. Many school cultural programs and events are directly conceived, staged, and performed by the students themselves, in a variety of forms.

Nguyen Phan Ha Linh, the head of the Melody Music Club, said that before joining the club, she simply loved singing and had limited skills. However, through training and guidance from teachers and senior members, she gradually improved and had more opportunities to access a professional vocal environment. "Initially, I only knew how to sing. After training and exposure to new musical knowledge, I've improved a lot. Now I'm very confident performing on stage," Ha Linh shared.

According to Ha Linh, the Melody Club's activities always closely follow school events. For each program, members work together to develop ideas based on a theme, plan performances, practice, and carefully review before performing. The schedule is flexible throughout the week to fit students' study schedules. Importantly, the club always provides opportunities for members to try their hand at various musical genres.

Before joining the Melody Club, Le Hoang An only knew how to play guitar, but later, members guided him to learn other instruments such as the flute and bamboo flute… “Thanks to everyone’s guidance, I was able to discover genres I had never tried before,” Hoang An shared.

In a high-intensity learning environment like Lao Cai Specialized High School, art activities have helped students relieve stress and balance their mental well-being after school hours.

Tô Thị Trường Hà, the head of the Dance Club, said: "When participating in artistic activities, I feel like I can relieve stress after school and have the opportunity to improve my health. For us, this is an activity that brings many positive impacts."

The Dance Club has over 40 members.

School art playgrounds provide a space for students to develop their talents, a practical solution to realize the goals of Resolution 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture, aiming for 2030: "100% of students, trainees, and university students in the national education system have access to and participate effectively and regularly in art activities and cultural heritage education." Through these activities, students have more opportunities to experience, cultivate self-confidence, and develop skills. While not all students will choose a professional artistic career, this process forms the foundation for their holistic development, both intellectually and emotionally, in a dynamic learning environment.
