To celebrate International Women's Day on March 8th this year, stages and theaters are bustling with spectacular musical and dance performances and theatrical productions…

The play "The Good People at House Number 5" has a truly unique staging and stage design.

Among the performances, the Youth Theatre contributed "Stories of the City during the Subsidy Period," recreating Hanoi during the rationing era through music , taking us back to a time cherished in the hearts of many generations of viewers. It was a time of hardship and scarcity, but people lived together simply and sincerely.

"Stories from the Subsidy Era" also aims to spread love for Hanoi , revive memories of Hanoi from a bygone era, and further appreciate the past and contemporary values. And this unexpected gift is also dedicated by the theater to the women we cherish.

Along with "Stories from the Subsidy Era," "Selected Humorous Life"—a brand and specialty of Northern Vietnamese comedy—will continue to bring unique comedic skits with the creativity and improvisation of talented artists. Laughter that resonates with the sounds of everyday life will be a delightful treat for audiences on International Women's Day, March 8th.

Also participating in the programs this time, the Vietnam National Drama Theatre will present outstanding plays such as: "The Good Man at House Number 5," "Kieu," and "People in the Realm of Memory." Among them, the play "The Good Man at House Number 5" tells the story of Hiep – an upright but lonely man who refuses to compromise with evil. Living amidst the conflicts and upheavals of society in a small apartment building, Hiep is marginalized when he resolutely upholds his principles. Faced with two choices: protecting his ideals or preserving his love, Hiep must confront daunting challenges.

Adapted from a script by playwright Luu Quang Vu and directed by People's Artist Ta Tuan Minh, the play raises profound questions about morality and the value of kindness in modern society.

"People in the Realm of Memory" is a play by playwright Luu Quang Vu, staged by Meritorious Artist Trinh Mai Nguyen. The play is deeply narrative, depicting the flow of memories, love, and decisions that change destiny. With its creative structure interwoven between real and surreal spaces, the work captivates audiences with its blend of emotion and authentic performances from talented artists.

As for "Kieu" (based on the work "Truyen Kieu" by the great poet Nguyen Du), it not only recreates the tragedy of Kieu's life but also deeply explores the psychological development of the character, placed within the context of an unjust feudal society.

In particular, the program features a lineup of veteran artists combined with talented young artists from the Vietnam National Drama Theatre such as Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu, Meritorious Artist Trinh Mai Nguyen, Meritorious Artist Nong Dung Nam, Meritorious Artist Thuy Phuong, People's Artist Lam Tung, People's Artist Ta Tuan Minh... promising to bring exciting experiences to the Hanoi audience.

Also on this occasion, the Vietnam Cai Luong Theatre will continue to perform the play "Sweet Starfruit Branch" at the Cultural and Arts Center at 22 Hang Buom; the Vietnam Circus Federation will also organize a special circus performance program titled "Flying Rose Petals - Vietnamese Circus Princesses"...
