Việt NamViệt Nam24/02/2024

On February 25th, the 2024 military conscription ceremony officially took place in our province. This year, 1,225 young men from our province were selected for compulsory military service and police service, all eagerly and ready to embark on their military service. To date, preparations for the 2024 conscription ceremony have been meticulously carried out by the Military Service Councils of the 7 districts and cities, with the spirit of "meeting the quota, achieving quality, quickly, safely, and in accordance with regulations."

In implementing the Prime Minister's decision on the selection and recruitment of citizens for military service in 2024, the Provincial Military Service Council has deployed tasks and assigned quotas to districts and cities; simultaneously, it has directed the Military Service Councils of 7 districts and cities to conduct inspections, reviews, compile lists, and organize the assessment of political and policy capabilities in accordance with regulations. Two key sectors, the military and the police, have coordinated to meticulously review and classify capabilities, ensuring accuracy and preventing any omissions. In each stage of the selection and recruitment process, the Military Commands of the districts and cities have coordinated with the commune-level Military Service Councils and the receiving units to go to the grassroots level, reaching out to the families of young people to conduct propaganda and mobilization work, effectively implementing the "3 meetings, 4 understandings" principle. In addition, localities have done a good job of disseminating information about the Military Service Law so that citizens understand their role and responsibility to the Fatherland. The effectiveness of propaganda work and military rear-area support policies in the province has positively impacted families and young people, with many young people voluntarily applying to enlist. Emphasis has been placed on leveraging the involvement of the entire political system to care for, encourage, and support citizens from disadvantaged families, ethnic minority areas, and areas with religious communities.

Colonel Luu Xuan Phuong, Standing Committee member of the Provincial Party Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command, and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Military Service Council, stated: Of the 1,225 conscripts, 1,002 were assigned to various military units, including: the 370th Air Defense Division; the 957th Brigade of the 4th Naval Region; the 5th Naval Special Forces Brigade; the 2nd Infantry Division (Military Region 5); the Provincial Border Guard; the 896th Infantry Regiment (Provincial Military Command); and 223 were assigned to the Provincial Police. The three-level Military Service Councils (provincial, district, and commune) demonstrated high spirit and responsibility, ensuring thoroughness in each stage of the recruitment process, resulting in a generally higher quality of conscripts this year compared to previous years. Specifically, 64.4% were classified as having health categories I and II; 72 conscripts had university, college, or vocational school degrees; and 73 were Party members. The Military Commands of districts and cities have coordinated with the units receiving recruits to finalize the official troop numbers. In addition, to encourage young people to be ready to enlist, during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024, Party committees, governments, mass organizations, and military agencies in localities organized many practical and lively activities to motivate young people, such as visiting and giving Tet gifts to families of young people enlisting in difficult circumstances; organizing gatherings and giving gifts to 100% of the selected recruits, encouraging them to enthusiastically fulfill their military service.

Following the guidance of officers from the Military Command of Phuoc Dan town (Ninh Phuoc district), we visited several families of young men preparing to enlist. What we observed was the joy and excitement of these young men about to join the military. Mr. Tran Pha, Commander of the Military Command of Phuoc Dan town, said: This year's recruitment drive saw the town issue conscription orders to 57 young men, including 47 for military service and 10 for police service; among them, 5 have college degrees and 2 have university degrees. The locality also successfully recruited 11 individuals. At this point, 100% of the young men have arrived and are ready to enthusiastically enlist, fulfilling their sacred duty to the Fatherland.

In anticipation of his enlistment day, young Tô Văn Dũng (born in 2003), residing in Ward 12, Phước Dân town, shared: "Although I am the main breadwinner in my family, I am aware of my responsibility as a citizen to protect the Fatherland, so I volunteered to enlist. Following the example of my older brother, Tô Văn Trí (born in 2001), who recently completed his military service at the 5th Naval Special Forces Brigade, I tell myself that I will strive to complete all assigned tasks well, not letting down the trust and expectations of my family and the local community." His mother, Lại Thị Hồng Hoang, also expressed: "Since Dũng received his acceptance letter and then his enlistment order, the family has felt very proud to have two sons who are successively enlisting, fulfilling their sacred duty as young people to the Fatherland. I always encourage him to have peace of mind and take care of his health." Entering the military environment requires diligent study and training, strict adherence to unit discipline, and striving to successfully complete all assigned tasks.

With the conscription day fast approaching, 1,225 young men from the province who have been selected for military service in 2024 share a common sense of honor, pride, and readiness to fulfill their duty to the Fatherland. In the districts and cities, the atmosphere of preparation for the ceremonial platforms, flags, and flowers for the 2024 conscription ceremony is spreading to every village and neighborhood. To date, preparations for the conscription procession throughout the province have been completed. To ensure a successful conscription, the local Military Service Councils are continuing to closely manage the number of recruits until the conscription ceremony concludes on February 25th. With the close guidance of the Party committees and government at all levels, the thorough preparation of local military agencies, and the sense of responsibility of each selected young man, the province's 2024 conscription process will ensure quality and meet the set requirements. This year's conscripts are steadfastly continuing the traditions of their homeland and families, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, and successfully completing their assigned tasks.
