In the new school year 2025-2026, the whole province has more than 400 schools from general education (grades 1 to 12) and continuing education , with more than 150,000 students. To ensure that each student enters the school year with a full set of learning "tools", schools have proactively informed parents and students about registering for textbooks. On that basis, schools make specific lists for each grade, including the number of students and the list of textbooks needed, send them to the Department of Education and Training to synthesize and contact publishers to order, agree on delivery time; at the same time, schools assign staff and teachers to count, classify, and promptly distribute books to students. From there, it is aimed at preparing knowledge for the young generation in time before the new school year begins.
Actively distribute, do not let students lack books
In order to best prepare for the new school year, the Department of Education and Training (DOET) has promptly issued a document guiding educational institutions on the provision of textbooks and learning materials for students. The guidance clearly states: Each school shall make a plan to register the need for textbooks for each grade, fully count the quantity and list, and send it to the DOET for synthesis, from which it shall send it to publishers, ensuring sufficient and timely supply for students; at the same time, take advantage of existing book sources from the school library for reuse, contributing to reducing costs for parents. At the same time, the Department directs professional groups to research and propose a list of reference materials for teaching, learning and review, in compliance with the provisions of Circular No. 21/2014/TT-BGDDT dated July 7, 2014 of the Ministry of Education and Training on the management and use of reference publications in preschool, general education and continuing education institutions.
Mr. Hoang Van Thao, Head of the Secondary Education Department, Department of Education and Training said: “Along with the guidance on providing textbooks, the professional department has developed a plan and advised the Department's leaders to direct units to guide teachers to proactively review and adjust the content, illustrative examples, and practice materials in textbooks to suit the actual conditions and characteristics of the locality, especially in the context of rearranging administrative boundaries and implementing the two-level local government model. With local educational materials, schools proactively provide soft copies or photocopies (socialized) to students, and at the same time update new content related to the merger of communes, wards, and the two-level government model into teaching topics.”
Based on the actual direction of the industry and surveys at schools, it can be seen that the preparation of textbooks for the new school year has been carried out systematically and simultaneously since the end of May 2025. Accordingly, before the end of the 2024-2025 school year, schools informed parents and students about registering to buy textbooks for the new school year; requiring homeroom teachers to make a list of registered students, completed before the end of the school year. Through the survey, over 90% of students registered to buy new books; the rest used books donated from previous courses to the school library or purchased by parents at bookstores. Thanks to that, by the beginning of August 2025, 100% of schools in the province had received and distributed books to students. Most of the books were imported from the Vietnam Education Publishing House, ensuring the correct curriculum, printing quality and delivery schedule.
A typical example is Bac Son Primary School (Bac Son Commune), this school year the school has 22 classes with 715 students. Immediately after the end of the 2024-2025 school year, the school widely announced for students to register for textbooks for the new 2025-2026 school year. Mr. Luong Trong Dong, Principal of the school said: “Based on the number of registered students, we made a specific list to send to the Department of Education and Training to place an order. From the beginning of August, when the books were delivered, the school notified parents and students to come and receive them. To date, 100% of students have had enough books and learning materials.”
It is worth mentioning that, along with the school's distribution system, large bookstores in the area, such as Bookstore 31 Nguyen Tri Phuong (Dong Kinh Ward), Oanh Binh Bookstore (Tam Thanh Ward) and a number of other bookstores in communes and wards, have also proactively stocked a rich supply of books, from textbooks, exercises to reference and advanced books for grades 1 to 12 from many publishers such as: Vietnam Education Publishing House, Hanoi National University Publishing House, Da Nang Publishing House, Thanh Nien Publishing House, etc. The combination of supply from the education sector and socialized commercial channels has created a flexible distribution network, meeting the diverse needs of parents and students in the province.
Ensure uniform and quality learning materials
In practice, if textbooks are the foundation of knowledge, then school supplies such as test papers, notebooks, pens, rulers, etc. are also indispensable items in students' "backpacks" before entering the new school year. These are the tools that help students access and exploit knowledge effectively. Therefore, the school supplies market in the province before the new school year is also bustling with many types and rich designs. Actual surveys show that bookstores and stationery stores have imported a large amount of goods, ready to serve all needs from elementary to high school.
Notably, in the past two years, school supplies products are mainly Vietnamese goods, imported by bookstores and stores from major brands such as Hong Ha, Campus, Ben Nghe, Hai Tien, Thien Long, not only ensuring quality but also continuously improving designs, diversifying styles and colors, having reasonable prices and meeting aesthetic and quality requirements. Thereby, many students and parents trust and choose.
Ms. Do Thi Tinh, owner of Bookstore 31 Nguyen Tri Phuong (Dong Kinh Ward) shared: “Currently, domestically produced school supplies account for more than 80% of the products on sale. If in the past, domestic enterprises only focused on quality, in recent years, they have also paid attention to design and style, so they are chosen by customers in the province. Therefore, we also prioritize displaying Vietnamese products with large, reputable brands such as Thien Long, Hong Ha, Hai Tien, Ben Nghe... in easy-to-observe locations for customers to choose.”
In addition to the variety of types and designs, the prices of school supplies this year remain stable. Items that are often sought after by customers include: school bags and backpacks with anti-hunchback, water-resistant, and anti-spine-scoliosis functions priced from 200,000 - 300,000 VND/product; higher quality school bags and backpacks are commonly sold from 300,000 - 800,000 VND/product; notebooks and test papers of brands such as Hong Ha, Vinh Tien... range from 10,000 to 20,000 VND/book; pencils and ballpoint pens of brands such as Thien Long, Ben Nghe... cost from 4,000 - 20,000 VND/piece; highlighters, erasers, and rulers cost from 8,000 - 25,000 VND/piece...
Talking to us while choosing school supplies for her children at Oanh Binh Bookstore (Tam Thanh ward), Ms. La Thi Nuong (Ky Lua ward) said: “This year, bookstores sell school supplies earlier and more fully. Before, I often bought notebooks from Thailand or Japan for my daughter, but for the past two years I have chosen Hai Tien notebooks because the paper is bright white, writing does not smudge, and the price is reasonable. This school year, my son is entering first grade, so I prioritize choosing high-quality Vietnamese products such as school bags, pens, notebooks, etc. The products “made in Vietnam” are currently very diverse in design, good quality, and reasonable in price, so my child really likes them.”
In fact, parents in the province prioritize choosing Vietnamese products not only because of the reasonable price but also because of the quality that meets the learning needs of students. This is also a practical way to accompany the education sector in ensuring stable and long-term learning conditions for children right in the locality.
The education sector’s early preparation of textbooks, combined with the proactive supply of goods from bookstores and stationery stores, has helped students feel secure and parents reduce the pressure of shopping close to the opening day. Le Tuong Vi, a 7th grade student at Van Lang Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities (Na Sam Commune), shared: “When the school notified me, I registered for textbooks and have received them all. Now I just need to buy more school supplies. After consulting with a number of bookstores, I have chosen the right items and am ready to start the new school year.”
It can be affirmed that the preparation of textbooks and learning materials for the 2025-2026 school year has been fully and promptly carried out by the education sector, schools and parents. The early supply of books, abundant learning materials, and stable prices have ensured that students have enough conditions from the first day of school.
This initiative will help schools quickly stabilize teaching and learning, creating a foundation for effectively implementing tasks for the new school year. This is an important factor contributing to improving the quality of education right from the first weeks of the new school year 2025-2026.
