In the early hours of May 8th, Sancho came on as a substitute in Aston Villa's 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final. Unai Emery's side secured their place in the final against Freiburg in Istanbul on May 20th.
This is the third consecutive year Sancho has featured in a European cup final. Previously, he reached the Champions League final with Dortmund in 2024, and then the Conference League final with Chelsea in 2025.
However, many MU fans believe Sancho hasn't contributed much to the success of the teams he's played for on loan. One social media account even requested to see "details of Sancho's contribution" to Aston Villa's run to the final.
The 26-year-old midfielder immediately responded sarcastically: "Yeah, remember to watch carefully!". When someone reminded him of his impressive performance against Nuno Mendes in the 2024 match against PSG, Sancho simply responded with a shrug.
Another fan mocked Sancho's fighting spirit, to which the player responded curtly: "Good night, buddy!". Even when teased as "an unknown player who only peaked at 21," Sancho retorted with a sarcastic question: "Is your real name Christiano?".
After the controversy ended, Sancho sent a message to Aston Villa fans: “Forget about the good and the bad, today is for Aston Villa. Good night, Villans, see you in Istanbul!”
This season, Sancho has been on loan at Aston Villa, but his form has been inconsistent. After 37 appearances in all competitions, he has scored 1 goal and provided 3 assists.
