The Athletic say Chelsea have agreed to pay a £5m fine to United for failing to exercise a buyout clause in their contract. The 25-year-old joined Chelsea from United last summer on a one-year loan deal, with a mandatory £25m buyout clause.
Previously, talkSPORT reported that Sancho had to accept a pay cut to stay at Chelsea. The midfielder receives £300,000 a week. Last season, Chelsea and MU split the payment to pay this income.
In 42 appearances for Chelsea, Sancho scored five goals and provided 10 assists. Despite failing to agree a deal to stay at Chelsea, Sancho remains a favourite at Stamford Bridge. He helped Chelsea finish fourth in the Premier League, securing Champions League qualification for next season, and scored in the UEFA Conference League final win over Real Betis.
Sancho returned to MU but was not guaranteed a place in coach Ruben Amorim's squad. He has many options to continue playing in England as well as other clubs in Europe.
Sancho has made 83 appearances for United since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021 for £85m, having previously played for both Watford and Manchester City's academies.
