Sancho returns to MU.

The English midfielder failed to reach a personal agreement with Chelsea and will return to Manchester United this summer.

Athletic reports that Chelsea have agreed to pay Manchester United a £5 million fine for failing to exercise the buy-out clause in their contract. The 25-year-old joined Chelsea from Manchester United last summer on a one-year loan deal with a mandatory £25 million purchase option.

Previously, talkSPORT reported that Sancho had to accept a pay cut to stay at Chelsea. The midfielder earns £300,000 per week. Last season, Chelsea and Manchester United split the cost of this salary.

In 42 appearances for Chelsea, Sancho scored 5 goals and provided 10 assists. Despite not reaching an agreement to stay at Chelsea, Sancho remained beloved at Stamford Bridge. He helped Chelsea secure fourth place in the Premier League, thus guaranteeing a spot in the Champions League next season, and also scored in the UEFA Conference League final victory against Real Betis.

Sancho's return to Manchester United doesn't guarantee him a place in Ruben Amorim's starting lineup. He has many options to continue playing football in England as well as other clubs in Europe.

Sancho has made 83 appearances for Manchester United since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021 for £85 million. Prior to that, he played for both Watford and Manchester City's academies.
