"The research applying extrusion technology to manufacture PG9 projectile wind cone blanks for mass production at the factory has increased the material utilization rate from 19% to 25%; it allows for the use of diverse sources and specifications of blanks, facilitating the purchase and management of blanks. The initiative helps save approximately 1 billion VND per year in raw material consumption costs for production. Furthermore, the successful initiative opens up a direction for specialization in production...", Colonel Tien Thanh Hung, Deputy Director of Production at Factory Z131, General Department of Defense Industry, introduced us to the initiative "Research, design of technology, and implementation of extrusion technology for PG9 projectile wind cone blanks from aluminum blanks..." which he and his colleagues carried out. This is a typical initiative of the factory in the "Excellent Labor, Creative Labor" emulation movement.
Factory Z131 is tasked with researching, designing, and manufacturing various types of weapons and ammunition for the Army; simultaneously, it combines this with the production of economic goods. Facing difficulties in infrastructure and fierce market competition, the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the factory have determined that emulation will serve as a driving force and a solid, stable foundation for development.
Colonel Tien Thanh Hung explained: The Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the factory lead and direct the Party committees and commanders at all levels to focus the emulation movement on key tasks, breakthroughs, and overcoming weaknesses in production tasks to ensure national defense while developing the economy. At the same time, they organize and closely combine regular emulation with peak, intensive emulation campaigns with specific goals and targets, linking the responsibilities of Party committees and commanders in implementing the emulation from planning and launching to checking results and drawing lessons learned.

It is known that major emulation movements and campaigns, such as: "Promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style"; "Promoting traditions, contributing talents, and living up to the name of Ho Chi Minh's soldiers" in the new era; "Army youth advancing into science and technology"; "Youth of the General Department of Defense Industry being proactive, creative, and contributing to the construction and development of the defense industry in the new era"; "Excellent and creative labor"... have been widely and thoroughly implemented by the factory.
In addition, the Party Committee and Board of Directors regularly inspect and urge agencies, units, and enterprises to innovate in form and content; effectively carry out propaganda and education work to replicate advanced models; focus on building plans, goals, roadmaps, and timelines for each stage of the emulation campaign, thereby creating a vibrant atmosphere of competition, unleashing potential, intelligence, and solidarity for the common task in labor and production.
During the period 2018-2023, through emulation movements, more than 3,450 initiatives and technical improvements were applied to production at Factory Z131, generating a profit of approximately 17.6 billion VND. From 2012-2022, the factory's total revenue reached over 13,121 billion VND, with an average annual growth rate of 5.1%; in the first six months of 2023, the average per capita income at the factory reached over 14 million VND per month... Successfully implementing emulation movements is a crucial foundation for Factory Z131 to improve the material and spiritual lives of its staff and workers, gradually contributing to the successful achievement of the strategic goal of building a factory capable of researching, manufacturing, and developing the production of defense and economic products, meeting the requirements of the new era.
