Innovation linked to practical training.

(GLO) - For nearly 17 years, Mr. Le Tan Hoa (born in 1985, lecturer in the Electronics and Informatics Department) has been working at Quy Nhon College of Technology, constantly researching and creating training models and equipment based on the practical needs of the classroom.

The professor's work has contributed to bringing new technologies closer to vocational students and improving the quality of training.

In 2026, Mr. Le Tan Hoa was awarded a certificate of merit by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for his outstanding achievements in the 2025 emulation movement. Prior to that, in 2025, he and his colleagues participated in the 2025 Creative Labor Day organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and received a certificate of merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for their outstanding achievements at the event.

Bridging the gap between the classroom and practice.

At the Faculty of Electronics and Informatics, Mr. Le Tan Hoa teaches Industrial Electronics and Computer Repair and Assembly. He also participates in various professional activities such as researching and creating self-made training models and equipment; providing skills training for students participating in vocational skills competitions at all levels; and teaching professional development courses for teachers in four southern provinces of Laos. He currently also serves as the Deputy Secretary of the University's Youth Union.

“The school’s current training program dedicates about 70% of its time to practical training. Therefore, if students only learn theory or practice on overly simple equipment, it will be very difficult for them to visualize their future work. I always hope that students will have access to technologies that are currently being used by businesses,” Mr. Hoa shared.

From that idea, many initiatives were created by the teacher and the team. One of the typical initiatives is the "Remote Control and Monitoring Programming Practice Table".

The device was researched in the context of the increasing prevalence of the Internet of Things (IoT) in manufacturing, but the school lacked a suitable practical model.

This model helps students become familiar with remote control technologies, network-based equipment monitoring, and the concepts of smart factories and digital transformation in industry. Knowledge that is often considered quite complex becomes more intuitive as learners get hands-on experience and observe the results.

The "Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence Practice Model," which won second prize at the 2025 Provincial Self-Made Training Equipment Competition, was created by teacher Le Tan Hoa to help students gain early access to technologies driving the industrial revolution such as AI, semiconductors, and automation. Through the model, students can practice identifying, classifying, and counting products using cameras on a production line.

Meanwhile, the initiative "PAN Generator and LCD Screen Fault Tester" stems from the need for vocational training in computer repair and assembly. The device simulates common LCD screen errors, allowing students to practice diagnosis and repair visually, while significantly reducing equipment investment costs for the school.

Always start with questions.

All initiatives aim to bridge the gap between school training and practical production. According to Mr. Hoa, innovation in vocational education doesn't necessarily have to start with grand ideas, but can be about improving practical models, teaching methods, or applying technology to lectures. "The important thing is how to make students learn more effectively," he emphasized.

However, transforming ideas into useful products is not easy. The major challenge is reconciling modern technology with the accessibility for learners, along with the pressures of time, budget, component selection, design, and programming. It is the desire to improve the quality of learning that has driven the teachers to persistently pursue each initiative.

Through his initiatives, Professor Le Tan Hoa has inspired students to learn and be creative, regularly encouraging them to participate in technology competitions, scientific research, and creative playgrounds to hone their practical skills and develop innovative thinking.

One memorable experience was when the professor guided a team of students in a robot-building competition. Although the results weren't as expected, he was still proud of their self-learning spirit, creativity, and perseverance.

"That experience further reinforced my belief that vocational school students are perfectly capable of creating high-quality technology products when given the right guidance and opportunities," shared Mr. Hoa.

According to Professor Tran Hieu Nghia, Head of the Department of Electronics and Informatics: For many years, Professor Le Tan Hoa has always been a shining example in the department thanks to his sense of responsibility, solid expertise, and pioneering spirit in scientific research and the invention of training equipment.

Not only did he excel in his professional duties, but in his roles as a lecturer and student union officer, he also wholeheartedly supported, guided, and inspired students' aspirations to assert themselves through various technology-related activities.

What sets him apart is the way he blends technological knowledge with professional passion, inspiring others and transforming dry technical concepts into practical, relatable lessons.
