The right branch of the Than Vu tunnel on the Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway, with a length of 1,131m, has been excavated and completed by the contractor, Hoa Hiep Co., Ltd.
Despite unfavorable weather conditions at the moment, at the Than Vu tunnel construction site (part of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway Project), more than 100 workers, along with numerous modern machines and equipment, remain committed to their work, striving for excellence.
The right branch of the Than Vu tunnel has been excavated and completed.
In the left tunnel section, engineers and workers from Cienco 4 Group Joint Stock Company and Hoa Hiep Limited Company are urgently excavating the final meters of the tunnel.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Executive Director of package XL-03 under the contractor Cienco4 Group Joint Stock Company, said: To date, the group has excavated more than 458/556.4m of the left tunnel branch, on the north side.
“Since construction began, the unit has been working in three shifts, four teams, day and night. Currently, there are more than 40 officials, engineers, and workers along with many modern machines urgently working on the remaining 98 meters of the tunnel. It is expected that by November 15th, the final section will be reached, adjacent to the section being constructed by Hoa Hiep Co., Ltd. from the southern tunnel entrance.”
Meanwhile, the right branch of the tunnel has been excavated by Hoa Hiep Co., Ltd. at kilometer marker 441+443.26. Currently, engineers and workers of this company are lowering the foundation and reinforcing the walls in preparation for the construction of the tunnel lining concrete.
Workers are installing drainage pipes, geotextiles, and waterproofing membranes before pouring the concrete for the tunnel lining.
Engineer Vo Son Hai, commander of the northern tunnel entrance of Hoa Hiep Co., Ltd., informed: The right tunnel branch is 1,131m long, and after completion of construction, it will be 13.8m wide, 7.55m high, and have 4 expansion points for safety during future operation.
Since taking over the site and commencing construction, Hoa Hiep Co., Ltd. has not had a single moment without the sound of machinery. To date, 748 meters have been excavated on the north side and 363 meters on the south side, and the two sides are now connected.
According to Mr. Hai, during the construction process, due to significant differences in geological conditions compared to the initial design, especially on the southern side of the tunnel, the construction progress on the southern side was delayed.
Faced with these difficulties, the northern tunnel section accelerated its progress and was two months ahead of schedule, compensating for the southern section and ensuring the tunnel was completed on schedule as planned and as registered with the Ministry of Transport .
In other bidding packages, companies such as Dai Hiep, Thai Yen, Truong Son, VINA 2, etc., are also mobilizing maximum manpower, equipment, and machinery to accelerate construction progress.
As of the end of September 2023, contractors had mobilized 99 construction teams with 836 machines and equipment, along with 1,920 personnel. Cumulative output reached VND 4,674.5/VND 5,055.6 billion, achieving 54.4% of the contract. The project enterprise also disbursed VND 4,331.57 billion for the project.
The tunnel formwork is also ready for the construction of the tunnel lining concrete.
The Dien Chau - Bai Vot section of the project has a total length of 49.3km, passing through two provinces: Nghe An (44.4km) and Ha Tinh (4.9km), with a total investment of VND 11,157 billion; it was started on May 22, 2021, and is expected to be completed on May 22, 2024.
The project is implemented under the PPP model by a consortium of investors including Hoa Hiep Company Limited, CIENCO4 Group Joint Stock Company, Nui Hong Investment Company Limited, Truong Son Construction Corporation, and VINA2 Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company; the project enterprise is Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company.
The Than Vu tunnel, located on Than Vu mountain and connecting Dien Phu commune (Dien Chau district, Nghe An province ) and Nghi Dong commune (Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province), is a crucial structure on the route. The right tunnel branch is 1,131m long and was constructed by Hoa Hiep Co., Ltd., while the left tunnel branch is 1,087m long and was constructed by two contractors: Hoa Hiep Co., Ltd. and Cienco 4 Group Joint Stock Company.
