On the morning of December 20th, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, Le Van Dung, signed and issued Plan No. 9919/KH-UBND outlining the direction for restructuring and streamlining the organizational apparatus of agencies and units in the provincial government of Quang Nam.
Accordingly, the province will merge the Department of Planning and Investment and the Department of Finance, with the proposed name after the reorganization being the Department of Economy and Finance; merge the Department of Transport and the Department of Construction, with the proposed name after the reorganization being the Department of Construction and Transport; merge the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, with the proposed name after the reorganization being the Department of Agriculture and Environment; merge the Department of Information and Communications and the Department of Science and Technology, with the proposed name after the reorganization being the Department of Science, Technology and Communications; and merge the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (LĐTBXH) and the Department of Home Affairs into the Department of Home Affairs and Labor.
The province merged the Department of Foreign Affairs into the Provincial People's Committee Office; reorganized the Department of Health by streamlining its functions, tasks, and organizational structure, while also receiving the functions, tasks, and organizational structure for advising on state management of social welfare, children, prevention and control of social evils, and food safety transferred from other departments.
The Ethnic Affairs Committee was reorganized into the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee based on the restructuring of its functions, tasks, and organizational structure; it also received the functions, tasks, and organizational structure for advising on state management of religious affairs from the Department of Interior Affairs, and the poverty reduction task from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.
The Department of Industry and Trade was reorganized by taking over the local Market Management Department from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and reorganizing it into a Market Management Sub-department under the Department of Industry and Trade.
The four departments/agencies will continue to exist, but with organizational restructuring and streamlining: the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Provincial Inspectorate; the Department of Justice; and the Provincial Management Board of Economic Zones and Industrial Parks.
