At 4:30 a.m. on November 20, officers and soldiers of Military Region 7 received orders to march from Ho Chi Minh City to Lam Dong . Hurriedly packing my backpack, notebook, camera, and preparing my military equipment, I joined the formation of soldiers of Military Region 7 and set off. Upon arriving at the location, the Military Region 7 working group immediately coordinated with Lam Dong province to survey the scene and propose urgent solutions.

Colonel Le Xuan Binh, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Military Region 7, affirmed: “Military Region 7 mobilizes maximum force. Wherever the people need, there are soldiers. Immediately after that, the forward command post was established in Hiep Thanh commune. The mobile information station was quickly formed, ensuring smooth communication to serve the command and operation to the units on duty and the regular command post of Military Region 7.
On the evening of November 20, units of the 25th Engineering Brigade, 657th Transport, 302nd Division... coordinated with the armed forces of Lam Dong province to simultaneously mobilize, bringing specialized vehicles to key points of the communes of Cat Tien, D'Ran, Ka Do, Duc Trong... In isolated places, cries for help rang out in the dark night, working groups divided into many directions, using motorboats and lifelines to approach each household. All showed a spirit of urgency when fighting the "water enemy". The soldiers' flickering flashlights became the spiritual support of the people. The flood rose high, the water flowed rapidly, the roads were cut off, but the soldiers still pushed forward to evacuate thousands of households and their material possessions to safety.
Recently, at Lac Thien 1 village, D'ran commune, Don Duong district, Lam Dong province, the Military Region 7 Command coordinated with Lam Dong province to organize a groundbreaking ceremony to build houses for households that collapsed or completely collapsed due to natural disasters. Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son attended. This is a practical activity in response to the "Quang Trung Campaign" launched by the Prime Minister, focusing on overcoming the consequences of storms, floods and natural disasters. At the ceremony, delegates broke ground, handed over funds to build new houses, and donated them to 4 households that suffered heavy losses in D'ran commune. On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son also presented meaningful gifts to 10 other families that suffered heavy losses due to floods in D'ran commune.
MANH THANG - THU HOAI
The water receded, leaving residential areas in a mess of mud. Before my eyes were rows of houses with mud stuck to the floors, walls, and scattered furniture. Thousands of officers and soldiers of Military Region 7, without a moment's rest, continued to simultaneously clean up the streets, residential areas, and schools. Infantry units took turns transporting waste to the collection point. The Chemical and Medical Forces quickly disinfected, sterilized, and instructed people on environmental sanitation and how to handle furniture after the flood to prevent disease.

Together with the commanders of local support units, I followed the Military Region 7 delegation to the families that suffered heavy losses, those whose relatives had passed away due to natural disasters. In the houses that still smelled damp, the sound of sobbing mixed with the sounds of comfort and encouragement. I listened to the commanders asking, sharing, personally handing out support money, and kindly advising the people to try to overcome the loss and stabilize their lives. The tight handshakes, the bowing of heads in silence... were moments that, for a reporter like me, I would certainly never forget.
The natural disaster will pass, life will gradually recover. I believe that in the hearts of Lam Dong people, these stormy days will be remembered by the image of the simple, resilient soldiers of Military Region 7, "selflessly for the people".
