On the morning of March 17, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly Party Committee met to discuss the draft plan on the direction of the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term; the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies; and the progress report on work related to amending and supplementing a number of articles of the 2013 Constitution.

In his opening remarks, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated that at this meeting, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly Party Committee would provide input on several issues aimed at streamlining the organizational structure before submitting it to the competent authorities.
In that spirit, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly Party Committee will exchange and discuss the Draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies; and the Plan on the direction of election of National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term and People's Council Deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

Therefore, the Chairman of the National Assembly requested that each agency and unit lead and direct the strengthening of political and ideological work among cadres, Party members, and the people, ensuring close coordination from the central to local levels to achieve unity in both understanding and action in implementing the Party's policies for the development of the country.
In particular, he emphasized the need to guard against hostile forces exploiting the streamlining of the administrative apparatus to undermine and distort the truth.

The Speaker of the National Assembly also requested that for all matters submitted by the National Assembly Party Committee and the National Assembly Standing Committee to competent authorities, the National Assembly's agencies must strengthen close coordination with government agencies to ensure the progress and quality of work meet the requirements.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee on Delegate Affairs and Head of the Party Committee's Organization Department of the National Assembly, Nguyen Thanh Hai, presented a summary of the draft plan outlining the direction for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
