Canadian Open 2025 Semi-Final Schedule
Alexander Zverev - Karen Khachanov (6:00 a.m., August 7)
Taylor Fritz - Ben Shelton (9 a.m., August 7)
The men's singles draw for the Cincinnati Open has been announced, marking the return of two top stars Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz after an absence since the dramatic Wimbledon final.
Neither world number one Sinner nor world number two Alcaraz have played since Sinner's four-set win over Alcaraz at Wimbledon last month, when they both withdrew from the Canadian Open.

Italian Sinner will arrive in Cincinnati as the defending champion, having beaten Frances Tiafoe in last year's final. The top seed is considered to have an easier draw than Alcaraz.
Like the other 32 seeds, Sinner has a first-round bye and will begin his campaign in the second round against either a qualifier or Vit Kopriva. The four-time Grand Slam champion is expected to face 30th seed Gabriel Diallo in the third round, before potentially facing 13th seed Tommy Paul, who has been sidelined since Roland Garros, in the fourth round.
Should Sinner reach the semi-finals, he is expected to face compatriot and eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti, a player who has also struggled for form in recent months. Musetti has won just one match since withdrawing with an injury in the fourth round of Roland Garros in June. Ahead of a hypothetical clash with Sinner, Musetti could face both 25th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and 11th seed Casper Ruud, two players who have also struggled this summer.
Also in the top half of the rankings is fourth seed and world No. 4 Taylor Fritz, Sinner's expected semi-final opponent. Fritz could face 2022 Cincinnati champion Borna Coric in the second round, and then 31st seed Lorenzo Sonego in the third. The American could then face more danger in the fourth round, with 15th seed Flavio Cobolli, 17th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Joao Fonseca all potential opponents.
If Fritz advances to the quarterfinals, he could face either 10th seed Tiafoe or seventh seed Holger Rune. 2024 runner-up Tiafoe and Rune fought out a thrilling three-set semifinal 12 months ago, although they could meet as early as the fourth round in two weeks.

The bottom half of the draw will feature second seed Alcaraz, who is looking for his first Cincinnati Open title. The Spaniard missed a championship point in his epic 2023 final against Novak Djokovic, before suffering a shock second-round loss to Gael Monfils in 2024.
Alcaraz's 2025 campaign will start with a match against either Mattia Bellucci or Damir Dzumhur, before a possible third-round clash with 26th seed Tallon Griekspoor. However, the Spaniard could then face a tough fourth-round clash with 16th seed and Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik, before a possible quarter-final against sixth seed Alex de Minaur.
