The Department of Education and Training reviews the results of the pilot program for basic skills education.

On December 20th, the Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training's Coordination Board and the Room to Read organization, held a conference to review the pilot program to enhance basic skills education activities in line with the 2018 General Education Program.

The conference was attended by representatives from the Department of General Education , experts from Hanoi Pedagogical University, representatives from Room to Read Vietnam, and the Coordinating Boards of Nghe An and Ca Mau provinces. The conference was connected from Tuyen Quang province to the provinces implementing the pilot program.

In 2025, Tuyen Quang province effectively implemented four intensive training sessions for administrators and teachers on applying basic skills to lesson plans. Through pilot programs in 10 secondary schools, teachers of Civic Education and Economic & Legal Education have become more proactive in applying active teaching methods, significantly improving students' self-reliance, communication skills, and teamwork abilities. Notably, observations at secondary schools show a significant reduction in classroom conflicts and disputes.

Besides the achievements, the conference also discussed challenges such as limited facilities and teachers' difficulties in designing experiential learning activities. To improve the quality of implementation, the Department of Education and Training of Tuyen Quang province proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training and the Room to Read organization continue to provide digital learning materials, sample lesson videos, and develop specific evaluation criteria for skill development in students; continue to organize additional training on other basic skills, increase the training duration, and arrange the time between training sessions; and develop a set of evaluation criteria for basic skill development results for students suitable for each grade level...
