Tourism is booming at the beginning of the year.

Right from the beginning of the Lunar New Year 2025, Quang Ninh's tourism industry has received positive signals with a high increase in visitor numbers, guaranteed service quality, and a diverse range of unique and attractive products. This creates momentum for breakthrough growth, aiming to achieve the target of welcoming 20 million tourists in 2025, including 4.5 million international visitors.

At the beginning of the new year, the province's cultural and spiritual destinations continued to be a major attraction for tourists, with visitor numbers increasing 6-8 times compared to normal days. During the 9 days (from the 26th of the 12th lunar month to the 5th day of the Lunar New Year), Cua Ong Temple (Cam Pha City) welcomed nearly 78,500 visitors, Cai Bau Pagoda (Van Don District) welcomed approximately 130,000 visitors, Yen Tu National Special Historical Site (Uong Bi City) welcomed nearly 77,000 visitors, and Tran Dynasty Historical Site (Dong Trieu City) welcomed 59,000 visitors.

During this period, popular tourist destinations and entertainment areas also saw a 40-50% increase in visitors, such as: Ha Long Bay, which welcomed over 62,200 visitors, including 45,600 international tourists; Sun World Ha Long Park, which received 13,500 visitors; and Quang Ninh Museum, which welcomed nearly 5,000 visitors… The number of international visitors entering through Mong Cai border gate reached over 25,900.

To create a vibrant tourism atmosphere right from the start of the year, on the morning of January 29th (the first day of the Lunar New Year), Quang Ninh province organized a welcoming ceremony and presented flowers to the first groups of tourists arriving at Ha Long International Cruise Port, Tuan Chau International Cruise Port, and Van Don International Airport. During this period, Quang Ninh welcomed 5 international cruise ships to Ha Long with over 6,500 tourists and approximately 4,000 crew members.

In addition, tourist destinations and businesses have carried out early infrastructure improvements, ensuring service quality, security, food safety, fire prevention, and environmental hygiene... ready to serve tourists during the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Snake. At the Yen Tu National Special Historical Site (Uong Bi City), Tung Lam Development Joint Stock Company organized a program of cultural experiences and traditional Vietnamese games, especially those related to the traditional Tet holiday. Tourists had the opportunity to experience many rich activities such as: making banh chung (traditional rice cakes), making traditional cakes (banh gu, banh te, banh san), weaving baskets, embroidering brocade, asking for calligraphy, making clay figurines, printing Dong Ho paintings, and calligraphy; as well as experiencing traditional folk games such as: stick pushing, tug-of-war, making firecrackers, playing chess…

Throughout the province, 25 typical cultural, sports , and tourism events and activities were organized to serve the people and tourists, including cultural programs celebrating the Party and the Lunar New Year, New Year's Eve fireworks displays, sports competitions, and folk games celebrating the Year of the Snake 2025. As a result, the number of visitors to these localities increased by 10-30% this year. Uong Bi City received the highest number of visitors with nearly 238,000, followed by Quang Yen Town with 218,000 and Ha Long City with 211,000. Some localities such as Binh Lieu and Tien Yen saw a 3-5 fold increase in visitors compared to last year's Tet holiday.

According to information from the Department of Tourism, in the 9 days from January 25th to February 2nd (from the 26th of the 12th lunar month to the 5th day of the Lunar New Year), Quang Ninh welcomed nearly 970,000 tourists, an increase of 21% compared to the same period of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon. Of these, nearly 230,000 were international tourists and over 740,000 were domestic tourists. Nearly 140,600 were international overnight visitors. Total tourism revenue reached 2,600 billion VND, an increase of 43% compared to the same period of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon.

According to the Director of the Department of Tourism, Nguyen Huyen Anh, during this year's Lunar New Year holiday, tourism businesses have implemented activities to best serve tourists. They have also ensured adequate facilities and personnel to serve tourists, decorated accommodations and tourist attractions to create attractive highlights, and organized entertainment, cultural, and culinary activities reflecting national identity, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for visitors. In the first quarter of 2025, Quang Ninh aims to welcome at least 5.5 million tourists, including 1.45 million international visitors. The tourism industry will continue to develop unique and attractive tourism products, ensuring quality; and implement customer appreciation programs, promotions, discounts, and tourism stimulus measures during the Tet holiday. Service establishments will strictly adhere to the regulations on publicly displaying the quality and prices of goods and services, creating a healthy business environment so that tourists can enjoy their spring holiday with peace of mind.
