Solskjaer is ready to return to take over at Man Utd.

Solskjaer has been out of coaching since being sacked by Man Utd in November 2021 after nearly three years in charge. He was initially hired as interim manager in December 2018 following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho.

Although Solskjaer led Man Utd to a second-place finish behind Man City in the Covid-19-affected 2020-21 season, the former Molde manager was unable to win a title as the "Red Devils" manager and he had to leave after a run of six defeats in 11 games at the end of 2021, including a 0-5 home loss to Liverpool.

Current Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure after winning only three of his first eight games this season, and Solskjaer has said he would not rule out the possibility of continuing as manager at Old Trafford if the club makes a decision.

"If the family (Man Utd) asks, I will say yes at all times. It's wrong to talk about the work that other people are doing, but of course, I will say yes," Solskjaer shared in an interview at the Oslo Business Forum.

Ten Hag urged Manchester United fans to be patient during yesterday's (September 26) press conference ahead of Sunday's (September 29) match against Tottenham.

The Dutch strategist said: "We are still working and making progress, we have made the decision to sign very young players so we have faith in them at this time and in the future."

We need time to build the team. I'm not a very patient person; I want to move straight ahead, but we've also been successful in the last two seasons."

Solskjaer has worked as a technical observer for UEFA since leaving Man Utd three years ago, and the former Norway international has been involved in compiling the Euro 2024 technical report after covering the tournament in Germany last summer.

He has been linked with a return to coaching with clubs in Türkiye and the Middle East, but with Norway's coach Stale Solbakken expected to step down after the 2026 World Cup campaign, Solskjaer has indicated he would be keen to take on the national team job when the opportunity arises.

"I am proud to be Norwegian, and of course, if there are questions, when Solbakken decides to step down, I will gladly participate in the discussion. I am proud to be Norwegian and proud of where I come from," Solskjaer said.
