Song Lam Nghe An FC has loaned their number one goalkeeper, Nguyen Van Viet, to The Cong - Viettel FC on a two-year contract starting from the 2025-2026 season.

Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet is a product of the Song Lam Nghe An Club's youth academy. Born in 2002, Van Viet has played for his hometown team in Nghe An for six consecutive seasons.

In the 2024-2025 season, Van Viet played in 25 out of 26 V-League matches and 4 matches in the National Cup. The 23-year-old goalkeeper is a reliable pillar, consistently maintaining high performance to support his younger teammates.

Ahead of the new season, Song Lam Nghe An FC decided to loan Van Viet to The Cong - Viettel. According to our sources, the contract between the three parties is for two years.

By joining a team with greater potential and ambition than Song Lam Nghe An, Van Viet will receive more benefits, a higher salary and bonuses, and a much better environment compared to his previous team.

Furthermore, Song Lam Nghe An Club saves budget and has the opportunity to promote other young goalkeepers to replace them. Initially, goalkeepers Cao Van Binh or Nguyen Bao Ngoc will be given a chance to prove themselves.

Song Lam Nghe An has produced many talented goalkeepers for Vietnamese football. Therefore, Van Viet's departure is not a cause for concern. The important thing is whether the remaining players can replace him.

Last season, Song Lam Nghe An FC narrowly avoided relegation. They finished 12th out of 14 teams. Their young domestic players and three foreign players were only enough to pull the team out of danger in the final rounds.
